This recording was made in the afternoon during a rainshower under my carport in louisiana. The rain is striking three different surfaces in this track: cement, roofing and plantlife. Now, i'm no pro, nor is my equipment (olympus ws-310m w/ built in mic), so discerning these different sounds is difficult. You can hear the dripping from rain: fast drip in the background of this track. However slight, there is also a noticeable electronic note which is simultaneous with the water striking these surfaces. You can also hear slight rustling sounds that could be wind or my shirt moving near the mic (i was wearing the device on a lanyard). The file is wav, recorded in stereo at 16 bit at 44. 1mhz.

A nice ambient recording made on sunday morning may 5th 2013 around 6:30 in the morning in the shawnee national forest in deep southern illinois. I had originally wanted to get good, clear recordings of the tremendous numbers of warblers that are here, but a good, soaking steady light rain decided to stick around. So, from beginning to end you will basically hear me turn the automatic shutoff dial on the wall, walk to the hot tub, get in the hot tub, and sit in various positions for extended periods of time. A wet plopping sound, such as meat falling into a puddle. I needed the sound of a body dropping into a pool of it's own blood. This was created by letting a soaked rag drop onto several sponges full of water from a height of about a foot.

Ian dury used something like this in "what a waste". . . It's the gurgling noise made when the last of the water runs down a bathroom sink plughole. Conveys almost as much meaning as a cistern flushing, but in a shorter time (smaller file size). As ever (with my stuff) no "noises off" and so ready for mixing!.

Recorded near a drainpipe, i have no idea what the bass wind sound in the background is. I think it was some sort of exhaust from the basement around, but i don't know why it turned off and on. In any case it makes for a very spooky ambient effect.
