This recording was made 15 nov 2008 at 21:55 when i was walking my dog. At a distance i heard running (melted) water so i took my h2 and went to the place where the sound originated from. Recorded at gps coordinates n59 16. 303 e18 04. 460.
Pulling apart and throwing / dropping / breaking / smashing chunks of ice from the frozen water pooled up over the cover of my swimming pool. The breaking ice sometimes sounds a bit like shattering glass; at other times the sound is more crunchy and wet.
The whole precedure: switch-on-klick. Heats up. Hisses with a few nice whistling melodies (from 00:27 on). Boils. Automatic switch off. Close stereo recording (10cm) with sony pcm-10. Pretty low background noise (kitchen ambience).
