For "young frankenstein" i recorded three cast members howling. For play back, i'd vary speakers, delay, volume and echo effects to get a nice surround and spooky sound, that sounded a little different each time.

A solitary wolf howls in the cooper creek drainage, wrangell - st. Elias national park. The creek, itself, is an aufeis-filled reverberate acoustic environment.

My dog is very tiny, but his howl is pitch shifted with reverb. He looks like a grey fox but howls like a wolf. The sfx is distant howling wolf calls.
