This is a piece, which is a continuous sound, realized a couple of decades ago, with an arp 2600 analog synthesizer. The idea was to create a kind of "tornado" sound.

Created from roughly 256 sounds in reaper by looping and batch actions. All sounds came from a folder of freesound cc0 sounds i've been collecting. A recording of wind whipping by. (warning: loud!) it was made by putting the microphone close to a car window as it was driving. It sounds rather like a strong wind storm or hurricane. :-) taken with a black sony ic digital voice recorder.

Tornado siren in streamwood, il recorded during the monthly test. This version is heavily edited, with some filtering and compression applied, as most of the recording was distorted (i was too close to the siren!), although it should be useable with appropriate filtering to suit your purpose. The actual siren is located a short way north west of the geotag (it should be visible using google's satellite view). Recorded using a rode ntg2 into a zoom h4.

A stereo wav recording from a zoom h1n during a thunderstorm today. One siren picks up followed by several more producing a convincing stereo image. I have done a basic bass roll-off, but have left it otherwise untouched. If you have a spectral editor you can probably clean out more of the noise, but i couldn't do so and keep the sirens sounding good.

The signal used in australia in the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster, dam failure, nuclear explosion, large bushfire, disease outbreak and hazardous materials.

This was recorded while sitting in a closet during a tornado warning as a thunder-storm raged outside the house. It was recorded on april 28, 2020 in tulsa, oklahoma. There are several very low frequency booms from the deep thunder. You can hear the faint sound of tornado sirens blaring outside. There is also the intermittent sound of panicked breathing by one of the two dogs that were also riding out the storm, sheltered in the closet. A thunderbolt rattles some wood hangers on the hanger rod.

Every beep is 600 hz, played 3 times every 3 seconds with a 1-second delay until loop with added reverb, generated/created with audacity (loopable).

Washington Grays (1861), composer Claudio S. Grafulla's most popular march, composed for the 8th Regiment, New York State Militia near the start of the American Civil War. It is here performed by the U.S. Air Force Band for their 1998 album Front & Center, a Collection of American Marches, conducted by Colonel Lowell E. Graham.
