Loading and unloading a sailingship with a primitive crane.

These are the ambient sounds of a sailboat underway. You hear the sounds of wind-filled sails, the tugs on line, and boat parts movement as the boat is moving through the water under a steady wind. You can hear when the boat changes direction from being close hauled to more down wind. The zoom h4n digital recorder was used in collecting this sound. Enjoy.

The sound of some wind remaining after storm alex in september 2020 in a south brittany harbour. The wind blows through the shrouds. Recorded by me on a tascam dr-05.

Bow wave of a ~8m sailing boat in calm water, distant micing. No sounds from the sail (could just as well be a motor boat depending on what you layer the sound with ;) ). There is also recording with a more close up perspective of the bow wave. Recorded with a ~30cm ab pair of neumann km183 on a tascam hd-p2, 48khz, 24bit.

Using homemade dead kitty w/ oly ws321m, sounds of sailboat masts clanking in the wind whistling, ropes slapping, etc. And of course hiss.

Surround recording of a 700hp dual-engine bavaria motor yacht cruising on the adriatic sea. The recorder is suspended in front of the vessel, recording the waves hitting the keel. The recording was done with a zoom h2. This file contains the rear channels, recorded with 120° dispersion.
