A humble cover/demo of one of salem's most beautiful songs.

Example sounds generated with coopsyn, a custom made reaktor 4 synthesizer.

I recorded this in my living room with mics in an x-pattern on the couch very close together, using a tascam dr-70d and behringer dyynamic microphones with patch cables for optimal volume. I recorded this at maximum gain on the tascam as two stereo files, then conjoined them to a 6-channel audio file properly and mixed the front two channels to a monaural center channel for added effect. The final result is what can be downloaded here. Tghe music in the background is part of the star trek: generations expanded complete score, and is coming from my computer to the rear of the recording, which lasts just over a minute in length, and the music was just background noise for testing purposes only. No copyright infringement was intended. Credit for the music goes to the now late jerry goldsmith and also dennis mccarthy, who is still alive. I hope you like this audio demonstration, and find it useful when considering rigs like the holophone, or comparible 5. 1 surround sound microphones / rigs. Un-mastered beat demo from a year or two ago. Super quiet because i barely knew how to use my loopback audio setup back then.

Three quick samples of the gear one mk1000 on kick (+ a single audio technica at2020 overhead on the rest of the kit). Recorded straight into a tascam us-1800 in a lousy room with a less-than-optimal 22" mapex kick drum. Each quick loop / snippet is 1) presented in mono / processed with compression and some eq (mostly a 6dbish scoop at around 300hz on the mk1000 and 80hz rolloff on the 2020 with about 5db less on the mk1000 than the 2020), then 2) presented exactly as recorded / no processing at all save normalization, mk1000 panned hard left channel, at2020 panned hard right. The first two samples are the mk1000 in the resonant head cutout, the third is the mk1000 positioned about 4" from the head and just about 2" from dead center of the drum.

Synthetic and musique-concrete for an experimental demo soundtrack. Used mimeophon, erbe-verb, dpo and qpas to create a "who pushed the button?" soundtrack. Great fun converting the sound of a pencil on paper to one part of the track. Enjoy!.

I made this.

This is a field recording of the sound of market traders in central athens markets. It's the call of the fish traders but also the butchers whose markets circle the central fish markets. A place where the intensity of the rituals becomes a positive feedback loop reinforcing the intensity.

By placing my hand over my mouth i instantly have a compressor that distorts any air or sound in my mouth. All i do then is, with my mouth open, "hoot" or yell in short sharp bursts to make it sound like a dog.

I just pitch up my voice where it's at a comfortable level and not at the highest peak in pitch. I slowly ease into the vocal sound to avoid any vocal damage. While i'm easing in there's a very quiet high pitch whistle coming from the back of my throat, too quiet for the microphone. Sometimes while recording i do get a squeak and a crackle sound that gets picked up, but none of that here.
