I took this recording from my room in a beautiful casa on the main square in santa clara. It was warm and not windy so i could keep the windows open during the storm, and eavesdrop on this little party, which seemed to warm up as the storm did. This is an edited version of a longer clip i have also uploaded to freesound.
Printing room with some chatter and one printing machine at the far end of the room, recorded from opening to the street. Boss came up to me and asked if i had any pens- guess they didn't make enough that year.
Group of cuban men working on a small new building beside other buildings. Bandsaw cutting stuff often heard over the chatter, chipping sounds, and light, offmic traffic.
This is a set of drum set interpretations of the baião pattern. Kit used was a 16" kick, dampened, but not stuffed to sound more like a surdo, a 14" ludwig snare, one riveted ride cymbal and hi hats. Simply recorded with a single sm57 but they are clear sounding loops. I'd be interested in hearing anything you use them in :).

Ok, obviously i'm not a percussionist. These are just a few takes i made with a borrowed plastic guiro. After a few single samples i included a clumsily played "quintillo" rhythm. Gear:. Neumann tlm-102arturia audiofuse interface. Format:. 48khz 24bitmono.
This recording was done as a class exercise. You can hear people talking, dogs barking, some birds and insect sounds along with general street sounds such as cars passing by, honking, motorcycles, machinery humming, etc.
The chocalho de platinela ('rattle/shaker with little plates') is a large and very loud metal shaker, with jingles similar to a tambourine, mounted in three long rows on an aluminium frame. They are used en masse in samba bands, usually playing a simple but very fast rhythm. A back (towards the body) shake.
