Downpour of rain during the monsoon season in phoenix, arizona. Rain hitting blacktop. Nearly a minute in length and you can hear the rain begin to slacken a little ways into the recording. Recorded with the only thing i had on hand, my phone; an lg v30.

A peaceful ambiance of some pine trees in early, early spring. The predominant, lower-pitched background is the strong south wind blowing through the tops of healthy pine trees. . . An unwavering "swooshing" that cuddles and curls around the flexible, thick-resin-filled pine needles. Also, from time to time, you hear the sound of the wind rattling some dead and brown oak leaves; oak leaves which are still stubbornly hanging on to their parent tree. I purposely did only a very bare minimum of post-processing on this sound so as to keep it as realistic as possible. Yes, there are quite a few wind rumbles that i toned down just a little bit. I did not totally get rid of the wind rumbles. I did this on purpose so you the true feeling of " being there " on that mild, but still raw cold day of spring could still be felt. At 4:35 into the soundscape the trilling of a pine warbler is heard---a warble of warm-sounding notes fighting back stubborn winter. At 9:33 that hardy year-round resident, black-capped chickadee starts tweeting about. Recording made on saturday march 25, 2023 using a sound devices mixpre-3 series ii and only one microphone. I used a sennheiser mkh 8070. Enjoy this soundscape of winter slowly losing its grip, as told by pine trees and brown, crackly oak leaves.

A wonderful background of a busy college campus during finals week. I love how the scattered fragments of conversation show inspiration in young people. You will also hear some beautiful wind, footsteps, and some recently arrived spring migrants who are just as excited about the new semester and the humans. Recorded in april of 2017 in a beautiful wooded walking path in the middle of a major midwest university. Listen, enjoy, and think back to the times when we were young, and excited about the future. . . . About learning new things. . . . I find this snapshot quite inspiring and invigorating. Recorded with sound devices 702 and the amazing audio technica bp4025 stereo microphone.

Wind can sometimes play havoc with recording --- but, with some luck you can get good wind recordings. Here is a recording of lake waves lapping at the short of a small lake in southern illinois. This particular day, the winds were blowing steady out of the south at 25 miles an hour, with gusts even higher. Recording made with my trusted zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. Of course a foam wind-screen made this recording listenable. Without the foam wind-screen the recording would simply have been an obnoxious, unintelligable roar!also, since the waves were so loud to begin with, i did not have to crank the recording gain real high -- i had the gain only on 65 for this recording. .

This was recorded by a pond with frogs calling, birds chirping, and the occasional car passing by. There is a little bit of wind noise, (still learning how to make decent recordings). Those parts can be edited out.

A recording of strong spring wind gusts through a stand of mature, tall white pines in a midwest forest. I used my handy zoom h4n recorder, and i used my rode nt2 shotgun microphone, cable-tied to a sapling. No kidding, i forgot my sturdy tripod, so i improvised using some bungee cords that i carry with me, tied the shotgun to a sapling and this is what i recorded.

I recorded myself winding up an old wall-clock in my living room to use in a song. I used the built-in microphone in an ipad, re-recorded to cubase, added a bit of compression, a gate, and a limiter. It's a stereo file, but the sound is mono.

This sound file incorporates sounds from freesound. Org due to the pandemic at hand and not being able to go out and record these sounds individually. The addresses i chose are sportsman’s park racetrack (cicero) and mission hills golf club. I made a substitution with one sound file that i recorded myself in nature in my neighborhood to incorporate the sounds of a golf course. Although the other file was used from freesound. Org. This piece uses these sounds from freesound: vw golf r, by everydaysounds. Additionally, what can be heard on this file is the sounds of birds chirping and rain falling as well as the sound a fast car speeding around a track to propose some contrast. Something that could spark the listener’s interest is that not often does nature and the machines that we humans make harmonize with each other, but in this i think they flow just fine. This is a recording of the six o'clock cicada taken near to the danum valley rain forest lodge in the primary rain forest of borneo. The 6 o'clock cicada is the loud horn type of sound that can be heard in the fist few seconds of the file. Later in the file other insects come in one sounding more like a car alarm.
