Ice skating ambience: here you can hear the echo-induced atmosphere created by cold ice. The laughter and chatter of people reflect against the walls of this big hall. You can hear the slashing of ice and the swoosh of people racing against each other. An upbeat music can be heard further enforcing joy. Recorded with the zoom h6, rode ntg. This is a great sound to create a joyful atmosphere.
Skates on ice: here is a very specific sound effect. The metallic slash through ice when it is being skated on. There are multiple variations of this in this track due to the amount of contact the blade of the skate has to the ice and also the force being put into the movement. It is a sharp and cold sound. Racking the slide on a. 45 automatic. It may have been a colt. May require some trimming and buffing. I think i recorded this with an akg perception 200 using cool edit -- and i did it to get my room-mate to leave (after we recorded the sounds of several of his guns and a sword. . . ).
A delicate tinkling of ice recorded on a behringer ultravoice mic from tilting a plastic container of frozen turkey broth i took out of the freezer. Apparently a small number of free floating ice crystals were hitting a layer of frozen crystals on the lid, resulting in this remarkably musical sound. Please feel free to use as you like!.
