Great single-speed diesel engine sound, loopable for any length background you need. This one happens to be at about 1200 rpm for a four-cylinder ford tractor engine. That said, i am living dangerously today because it's a field recording and i'm not saying where it was. Not because i can't, but because i frequently use the wrong door when entering or leaving the supermarket and i usually completely ignore the painted traffic directives in the parking lot. I'm proud of that.

Noise of an electric chain saw.

This was recorded by holding a small pcm recorder (zoom h1n) very close to an ipod 4th generation. The ipod was turned on and its hard drive tried to start up. You can hear the spin up of the motor and the hard drive head clicking back and forth. The hard drive fails to power up completely and eventually shuts down again. A 350 hz high pass filter was applied, in addition to audacity noise reduction, to get this clean motor noise from the original recording. The stereo file was then mixed to mono because the mic was slightly off center from the ipod, and the stereo provides no benefit. The hard drive in this ipod is a 1. 8" 40 gb toshiba hard drive, the ipod model is a1059. The microphone was held just 3 cm (1. 2 in) from the ipod. Recording settings were stereo 44. 1 khz at 16 bit (wav format). The file is the same except it's mono.

An long escalator i recorded in atlanta. The escalator was very noisy, and produced a kind of whining electrical sound that sounded almost spiritual. I do not know if the transcendent beauty of the escalator is captured sufficiently here, but i figured someone might be able to use it! there are a few faint voices in the background.

Each year in april they celebrate the "festa de la terra" in barcelona. I recorded a yoga group singing during a workshop they held during that event. I used a mp3-player recorder with the built-in microphone.

This is a "happy birthday to you" rendition to celebrate the 15th freesound birthday (april 5th 2020). The sound has been made by researchers of the music technology group of universitat pompeu fabra (i. E. Where freesound happens!), and voctrolabs. The sound uses choir synthesis technology developed for the trompa eu project. This means that what you hear are not real singers but synthesized voices generated by a computer! the score adaptation for choir is based on a score published in the choral public domain library.
