I had to stoop down very uncomfortably for nine minutes until i got three minutes with no airplanes, and then i had to walk back to my aunt's house in the dark without a flashlight, though woods full of large spiders. . . Ambient recording of the courtyard in my apartment complex. The are two story brick buildings, next to a main road, border-line highway. The traffic light means that the birds and neighbor's dog start predominant, then are taken over by the rush of traffic as the light changes to green. A sunny day, but clouds are in the distance, as an impending storm is about to roll in. The whining dog seems to share his sentiment about the dark clouds. Recorded with a zoom h6, stereo xy adapter set to 120 degree spread. Set up through a wide open window as to cut down on wind noise.

Five minutes of rain, artificially created. Using a blue yeti usb condenser mic on the cardioid pattern, i made a 30-minute recording of sounds from my sink (drips, splashes, different faucet pressures) and cut them up into 60 files, later edited down to 20. These were layered together and mixed with white, pink, and brownian noise. Slight noise removal done. Recorded some basic mic noise, and used a subtractive processor (reafir in reaper) to remove that sound from the final mix. Convolution reverb was added for a fairly realistic set-it-and-forget-it option. I've uploaded a dry version as well.

This is my first recording using my binaural mic. I took a walk to meet my wife for lunch and decided to record it. It was windy outside, and even with the standard foam wind protection, you can still hear some wind rumble. It might be fixed using some low cut filtering but i wanted to post it as is. This take started inside my recording studio and ended in a fairly large avenue with lots of traffic (cars and motorcycles). There is a pause on the recording by 01:59, when i had to change the mic cable position. Signal chain: roland cs-10em (with foam windscreen) > sony pcm-m10 (rec level: manual, at about 3,5; mic sensitivity: low; limiter: off; low cut filter: disabled).

I was out recording some sounds late one evening, and i randomly heard this, which i can assume is a gunshot. Not much processing was done to this sound, except some noise removal and pitch shift. Feel free to use this whenever, wherever, and however you want. This ain't called freesound for nothing. :).

I turned on my recorder just after watching a movie on valentines day. The theatre wasn't packed but people were relaxed. I stood in the lobby for a while watching people getting ready for the next movie, then walked outside through the squeaky doors of the theatre and stood around people having a smoke and waiting for their ride home. I then walked to my car. Panasonic stereo hand recorder, nothing fancy.

So i recently got a new portable recorder (sony pcm-d100). Early one spring morning, i could hear a woodpecker crystal clear from inside my room, with my noise canceling headphones still snug on my head. So naturally, i did a lil ambient recording. Since it was spring, the rich chorus of birdsongs made it, in my book, a freesound-worthy file. I didn't process this very much, except wrapping it around near the end so it could seamlessly loop back, and eqing it to bring out the birds more and soften the mic-noise. In case you're curious, it's a pileated woodpecker!.
