Recorded may 23rd 2022 at noon for the 70 year anniversary of the first siren test in sedgwick county, kansas. (april 22, 1952). 50-65 feet from the siren. This thunderbolt was installed in 1952 and remained until sometime between 2012 and 2015 when the siren head was replaced with a newer bolt. The original controls and blower remain, however.

An sennheiserme66 and me67 on opposite channels, i don't remember which was which(sorry). . But i could tell no real difference during recording (samecapsule, different tube). The mics were near coincident next to canarycage, though shure fp24 and tascam hdp1. Original at 24 bit 96k, down converted to 16 bit 48k. It took allot of intimidation to get the stinking birds to sing. . I threatened violence, finally when alanis morsette played, they gave it up. Otherwise birds would have died (though that may have been an interesting recording too). .

This is an ambient recording of the late night crowd of kids at 14th street unions square nyc. It's where the market usually is during the day. There is some traffic present but it's mostly about the voices and energy of teens. You can hear the clack and roll of skate boards, voices and gritty near by footsteps. The file contains walla quality voices and up close stuff that you can understand. It is a tad left heavy so you may have to adjust if you are using it for stereo.

I made a great impersonation of the grudge when she is angry using adiomass and my own voice! i thought it was a good idea since i had figured out how to make that sound a long time ago (like 2 months or something) the scream you may hear at the end was me breathing out but because i added 250% more gain over and over again i ended up sounding like i met the "grudge". Good for horror movies and possibly a grudge 2 (although i already saw the old grudge 2 this would be a remake. ).

Other than this, the sound is eloquent enough. Oin camera mic has been used from a canon 7d with no wind filter. Recorded in burnley, lancashire.

Ambient echo sound. This sound required the combination of operator using the triangle wave and plenty of reverb. I layered this sound by using two different octaves to cover most frequency ranges that sounded best and to fill any gaps in the sound effect. This sound is inspired by scene transitions and wide shots where there may be a lack of other sounds so this frees up a space for a calm ambient sound that uses plenty of sustain and reverb. The triangle wave in the operator gave it more of a high pitched calm flowing sound. The other options for example sine wave sounds to harsh and sharp for this type of sound.

Field recording taken from the balcony of an apartment building in the waldstrasse district of the german city of leipzig on a summer evening. In the foreground, quiet noises from neighboring apartments can be heard as well as the calls of countless swallows who nest in the eves of the 19th century houses which this part of town is famed for. In my quest for that perfect sound that i'm looking for, i ended with something that doesn't quite fit the bill. Never the less, i think it has potential in the right hands. One thing i would like to point out is a single glitch at about 1. 907. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure it out. This is a recording made on an iphone se using the now discontinued sennheiser ambeo vr headset for binaural "3d" recording. This recording has not been processed in any way except for the levels which were normalized. Since it was a cold windy day, i believe i had the mics under a thin hat, which acted as a wind shield. This may have slightly muted the higher frequencies but it shielded the mics from wind noise. I will make some more recordings and share them.

Douzens of frogs within a ditch at dusk end of may 2013, giving an evening concert. Recorded in moorende 25 km apart from hamburg. The ditch is a part of the old watering system of the huge apple plantages of the altes land. Recorded with a tascam dr-100 with its implememented stereo cardioids, 44,1 khz, 16 bit stereo. Fortunately and unusually nearly no wind during the recording and only one motorbike passing at the small road beneath - which i was able to cut off unnoticable.

I was looking for the sound of a hot engine clicking and found just one with lots of background noises. So i decided to build it from scratch in bitwig studio and this is it. The sound starts with fast clicking slowing down. It's not perfect, you can still hear it's made from samples. But as the sound is normally used at low volume, i think i can get away with it. Feel free to add a gate and shape it even further. I may upload an updated version later.

You can hear nightingales, warblers and thrushes all around. This was recorded using my crappy, old mp3 player in the countryside of henfield, near brighton, england, on the 31st of may 2010. I often play it & other recordings i made around there for my birds in the evening, as a kind of nature lullaby. ^-^.

A perfect day in a midwest small-town neighborhood for painting a picture of peace, and thoughtful reminiscing in mid october. From time to time you will hear the distant sound of creaking swings and laughter from a kids playground. A recording of a shower door, i used this sound through izotope iris 2 to produce a low, slow bassy kick sound, for a pretty ambient piece i did. I don't know why i became fascinated with the shower door. Bathroom time can be surprisingly pensive, so perhaps the sound of the door shunting shut became associated with that introspective space for me. Yes, i am aware that this the second bathroom sound i have shared. This may take on a certain significance given the fact that i have only shared a handful of recordings, but i encourage you not to read too deeply in to this fact.

The very unique call of the cuckoo recording on may 23rd, 2015 in southern illinois. This "singing" sounds like nothing else in the forest. They are not very common in this part of the country, so, i am very very fortunate to have captured this primal call on " tape ". Equipment used: marantz pmd661, with stereo samson co-2 microphones mounted on a tripod about 4 feet from the ground. I was set up on a trail on the edge of a large forested area which eventually leads down to a huge lake. Recorded around 6:30pm on a mild evening--partly cloudy and temp was 74 degrees.

Wasn't intending to record this, but it was so intense i had to. I couldn't sleep with the 50mph winds hitting right outside the bedroom. Worst storm i've been through since moving to washington state in 1999. It came from the east through chinook pass. I was kind of expecting the roof to fly off. You can hear the flapping of a tarp covering my old mercedes right outside the window. The wind shredded part of the tarp. Also, the snow drift hitting the window. This was recorded inside the blue mosque in istanbul during friday prayer in may 2005. To get in to the blue mosque with recording equipment we had to get a permission from the religious authorities. We also needed a muslim to operate the equipment since the friday prayers were forbidden for non-muslims. We set up the recording equipment and let our turkish guide hit the record button once the prayer started. The sound is recorded using an m/s rig straight to dat and processed afterwards with a hp filter in protools to remove microphone rumble. Some guys across the alley were throwing things out the window this morning, which woke me up and ticked me off. Instead of yelling at them, i put up my mic and recorded the impacts. Around 15 minutes of a fireworks show i went to. You can hear many different types of fireworks go off, with crackling, explosions, bangs, booms, etc. In this. There are people and kids talking and laughing in the background throughout many parts due to this being a public event, which may be good or bad depending on what you would like to use this for. The fireworks were not very far away, which means that they do sound close. I even got covered in some ash during the experience. You do not need to credit me for this sound, use it how you like.
