The sound of cars driving past an intersection in the city while raining. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder and a wind-guard due to strong gusts. Caught a heavy downpour while at home and figured i'd capture it for posterity. The recording features rumbling thunder, an ambulance in the distance and a piston airplane flying over. The storm gradually drops in intensity.

Rainy day on a busy city street in northridge, ca. Recorded with a roland r-05 during morning rush hour on a busy intersection (balboa blvd & parthenia street). There is the rushing sound of cars driving past on the wet road, all kinds of vehicles. I think it turned out pretty good. :).

I didn't notice many good rain sounds on this site so i decided to leave my mic recording beside my window :p it's pretty short but enjoy. Recorded with sony hdr pj260v then edited with audacity.

Winter's day in residential ontario. Very windy, nearby wind chimes and wind in trees. Recorded using an h2n zoom recorder, using m/s raw setting. Decoded, side channel brought down 5 db.

The recording starts with gentle rain and slow thunder rolling across the sky. The thunder is predominantly in the first half of the recording. The rain increases in intensity in the second half, peaking about three-quarters of the way through. Recorded on a sheltered, outdoor stairway, in a suburban location in south-eastern england, in august 2013; using a zoom h2n recorder set on mid-side stereo, at a 120 degree spread. The original recording was heavily edited, to remove traffic, trains, planes and parakeets(!). Some light, occasional, background traffic noise remains, however.

Stuck my condenser mic out my window during a rain storm and recorded for a few minutes. Recorded at 48khz with a rode nt1-1. High passed around 150hz and compressed a little to bring up the volume.

I'm sorry for the rain sounds on the roof, but i didn't want to go outside in the storm at night. Now it's more specific because you hear the roof.

Soft rain on an open roof window recorded from the inside. There's a suburban hum and ambiance with a few birds chatting and some thunder in the distance. Recorded in stereo with tascam dr-100 internal mics. Subtle compression and some eq was applied. 48 khz | 24 bit.

This sounds as if it were staged by hollywood, but it actually did happen, i swear! birds chirp away to set the scene, but a beefy thunder roll intrudes. Soon after, raindrops begin to fall as if on cue. Theres a little handling noise click in the begining that is easy to crop out if you like. The recording is unedited. At 1:35 i move the mics closer to the deck so you can hear the splashing. At about at 3:10 i you’ll hear a different timbre as i move away from the rain and under an awning. About 3:45 the rain settles down and the birds start chirping again. Hopefully there are some useful segments in here. Recorded with a dead cat on a tascam dr-05 at 48khz 24 bit, then compressed with “lame --preset insane --scale 10” to make up for the low gain i used (i was afraid a thunderclap would engage the limiter). This is a recording of heavy downpour on the streets of a rural village in germany. The rain was also dropping down on a small metal roof not far away. Furthermore, there was some rumbling thunder going on in the distance from time to time, as well.

My first recorded lightning strike.

Actually is not rain. It is snow melting down from a roof, falling into puddles and onto a corrugated roof. I placed the microphone (zoom h2) on different spots in 4channel sorround mode. I just normalized them and mixed them into stereo. Thats it. In this case the mic is placed on the ground in the middle of the puddles and the roof. Feel free to vote and leave a comment, maybe letting me know how you are going to use it :). You can easily loop the sound without a notable cut in the mix. Cheers, pillo.
