An interesting recording of birds, led by blue jays, doing their alarm calls. I was in the middle of the woods when i noticed that the birds seemed to be alarmed like there was a predator nearby and sure enough, i finally spotted a big barred owl sitting high in a tree about 50 yards from my recorder. Pretty amazing how the bird community sounds the alarm.

This is a basic dubstep beat. It was done in reason 7. It is useful in that it shows you a good way to construct a beat. It consists of four 4-bar measures, each progressing from the previous. In this way, you can see how to write a good beat, by starting off simple and building from there. Traditional dubstep drums are very spare and sporadic with the use of symbols. For this jazzyloop i used. Drumbot. Compiano chordsrandom progressionminor, 4 chords, 80 bpm, oo_odm, cm, c#6, f#9had to record straight to audacity. No export function. Drumbotcountry & folksmothness made a 4 bar drum sequence and exported as wav. This site (drumbot. Com) had no "bass function". . . Quick search led me to onlinesequencer. Nethere i made a bass line to the chords in 80bpm. Here you can only export to mid. . . Once again i had to record straight to audacity. Result this loop. No processing in audacity.

This is a full acoustic drumkit sampled at multiple velocities with drum sticks and brushes, it was recorded in a small jazz bar at a local music school, i recorded this a long time ago with a zoom h1 portable recorder. It would still need some sorting and tweaking to build a soundfont or hydrogen drumkit which i want to do in the future but it will probably not be anytime soon.

It was a very cold and windy day when i visited the mile high swinging bridge at the top of grandfather mountain. Unfortunately, i did not have a windscreen, so there is a bit of noise in the recording of the "singing" bridge. The reason i say "singing" is that the high winds were blowing through the 228-foot long suspension bridge bars making a haunting sort of song. It is considered the highest suspension footbridge in north america at just over a mile high.

A field recording made as i walked on the north side of bloor st w, near shaw street in toronto on the evening of 29 may 2011. This is a commercial strip with many ethiopian bar-restaurants, outside of which men gather to smoke and have conversation. You can hear some of these as we pass along bloor, as well as the conversations of other passers-by. These sounds are pretty typical of this section of bloor on a fine spring evening. Recorded with a roland r05 and accessory stereo directional microphone.

This is a recording of an analogue bass synthesizer, made by focusrite saffire pro 26. It's a smooth sound with an instant attack and two final wobble created with an lfo. The sound has been equalized and compressed and some reverb mixed with an aux. 140 bpm. Good fun.
