A peaceful medium-sized creek in the midwest. At 41 seconds into the recording, in the left channel you will faintly hear some walkers casually strolling by on this brisk 35 degree day. Then, at 1:45 into the recording, some light bird callsadd to this peaceful recording. Recording made in the shawnee national forest in southern illinois in late december of 2018. Equipment: sony pcm d100.
Recording of a courtyard garden fountain in the abbey gardens in bury st edmunds, suffolk. Recorded early on a sunday morning to minimalism unwanted sounds of people!. Recorded using a directional shotgun microphone into a zoom h4 recorder. Wind sock and hpf have been used to reduce rumble. This particular recording was of the first fountain which has a fairly deep sound. Recorded close for a focused sound.
We were having a small rainstorm, so i thought i'd go out and record the rain. As you can see, (or hear!), i got much more than that! this is the complete original audio, all unedited. It sounds as if the lightning struck at least three times! enjoy! (i know i do!).
Wide-range atmo of the little swiss mountain village of breitenfeld. The cows have come down from pasture and are standing at the gated bridge to the village, waiting to be let in to be milked. Recorded with a zoom h2 at 90° dispersion.
I captured this excited pileated woodpecker on the edge of some deep woods, on a hot dusk in august 2010. It was about 7:30 on a calm night at the edge of the shawnee national forest. The tempurature was 85 degrees. What i find really enjoyable though is the rising, and ebbing and flowing of, i believe the typical summer cicadas. Recorded using my zoom h4n recorder using the internal buil-in microphones.
We spent the afternoon at the ruins of the abandoned radarstation on the top of teufelsberg in berlin. It had been raining in the morning so inside the whole building there were different kind of drops to record. This is from a different room. Binaural recording with soundman okm`s and a h4n. A recording made on the bank of a small stream. The prominent bird that you will hear -- especially at 30 seconds into the recording -- is a beautiful little bird called the louisiana waterthrush. I made this recording by attaching my zoom h4n to a sturdy tripod, and using the built-in internal stereo microphones on the zoom. The built-in microphones have a 90-degree and 180-degree setting. For this recording, i set the angle on 180 degrees.
Created only with audacity and magix. A few sawtooth waves with slow tremoloand a lot of high pass filtering and pitch-shifting. I added filtered pink noisefor the background noise and to make it sound more naturel.
This is a larger stream in the shawnee national forest. At this particular point on the stream had a large log over which the water was flowing gently. . . . Not as much gurgling and popping sounds, just a nice smooth, flowing sound.
This wood thrush was recorded around 7:30 in the morning in heavy woods in deep southern illinois. Unlike my earlier posting of the wood thrush singing at dusk, this morning recording has the wood thrush singing with lots of company, although he clearly rises above his neighbors. 17 seconds into the recording you hear the drumming of a woodpecker, and at one-minute 20 seconds into the recording you hear the distinctive-lonely sounding call of the huge pileated woodpecker. Recording made with good-quality stereo microphones so use headphones to get a wonderful experience.
This is a cricket that was chirping outside of my apartment. There a few loud chirps at the beginning, followed by several softer chirps. I was able to get my recorder pretty close the cricket, so the sounds came out pretty good. I recorded this with a tascam dr-07 portable recorder.
A blackbird singing from a treestump with a competitor singing in the distance, the odd sparrow and people in their gardens. Recorded on a tascam dr-05 with built in mics.

A mono field recording of water droplets falling from a roof into a puddle. Natural spring morning ambiance and very light traffic in the background. Recorded with akg se 300b / ck98 into a tascam dr-60dmkii.
Pacific tree frogs (pseudacris regilla) croaking in a disused quarry. This clip has one frog close, others in middle distance. Quite a bit of wind noise from nearby trees.
Another day similar bird sounds as birds in the forest but today the wind is sounding very strong from the trees. I recorded it with myrecorder zoom h4n promicrophone sennheiser shotgun mke 600triton audio fethead(no phantom thru)rycote classic-softie windscreenwavelab.
An odd sound: i set pocket recorder out hoping to capture some birdsong; a raven swooped down and made a couple of passes above it. Perhaps he was attracted by the colorful fuzzy windscreen? at any rate: recorded on an olympus ls-14, some wind in the trees in the background.
I recorded this from my bedroom window at night. There were cars going by on the road so i tried to filter those sounds out. It's pretty hard to pull this off. Hope it sounds good!. Tools used:sony cybershot cameraaudacity (editing).
