This is the ambience of an early summer afternoon near a riverbank here in honolulu, hawaii. I recorded it via my lenovo laptop's built-in microphone.

An enjoyable trip back to my childhood. . . Way before cell phones and the internet. Summers were enjoyed walking on the gravel alleys looking at the beautiful, mature trees in my own little corner of the neighborhood. Does this return you to your childhood?. A nice capture of those beautiful chimney swifts twittering above -- a true signature of summer -- occurs at 38 seconds in, then again at 2:24. The typical hum of central air conditioning units is ever present throughout. From 2:11 to 2:27 i stop and you can hear the hum of these units getting louder. At 2:44 a dog barks in the distance. Then, at 4:16 i leave the gravel alley and start walking on the grass, the, at 5:06, up the big, concrete front steps. Recorded at 7:45pm on the evening of wednesday june 12th 2019. Recorded on july 10th, 2019, perhaps around 11:30pm in the mountainous woods of chiayi county, meishan township in taiwan. It began drizzling and i thought the sound at night is quite beautiful. Excuse those weird bumps i made during the recording.

Field recording of birds in my neighborhood and backyard on the east coast of the u. S. I believe a cardinal is most prominent here, but i am not an ornithologist so cannot say for certain. Some smaller birds (finches?) also audible. Recorded through an open window of a screened porch with a tascam dr-40x. Raw recording; a bat crack from a nearby athletic field is audible.

Farm ambience with extra birdie goodness.

A processed audio of tropical cicadas during the evening (6 pm). A few background noises slipped and were unable to be removed during audio processing stage (around 2. 3 khz and bellow were removed). These tropical cicadas are active during the evening. These cicadas are able to produce calls above 2. 5 khz. This audio was recorded around 25-50m from the source.

A late summer soundscape that is a favorite of mine. . Microphones set up in some mature woods about 60 feet from a large lake on labor day weekend. Most of the background is the insects, which are very obvious during this time of year. The swelling of their volume is nap-inducing (*at least to me in my opinion. )here is the midwest this swelling and subsiding of the insect wave tells me that summer is just about starting to go back downhill, after a feverish peak. Despite the covid-19 of the year, nature does not seem to have changed her soundscape. Life goes on in the forests. The birds, whose job of raising young is over, are still there. . . They're just resting and relaxing and listening to the insects as well i'm sure. Now of course you will hear a few prominent birds in this captured moment:(1) a great blue heron squawks out starting at 1:17 into this piece. (2) the alarm call of a red-headed woodpecker can be heard at 2:14. Other than that, just the insects singing their hearts out and the assortment of birds taking secondary place during this time of year. This was recorded on sunday september 6th 2020 at 8:30 in the morning in the forest in southern illinois. Equipment: zoom f4, microphone: sennheiser mkh 8060. Enjoy this audio snapshot of the subdued -- yet vibrant - sound color of late summer, finding comfort in the fact that, within four weeks, the colors of the leaves will be changing to oranges and reds and yellows. But, for now, there is still life to live in the insect and bird world.

This was recorded at the edge of a field, so it's literally a field recording. It's summer, there has been some rain but now it has stopped and the sun is out. A lark is singing its heart out. There is some wind noise which i've reduced with eq and noise removal using audacity, also some traffic noise from the road some way to my right (hard to get away from traffic noise). Recorded with a zoom h1 using the in-built microphones.

The very unique call of the cuckoo recording on may 23rd, 2015 in southern illinois. This "singing" sounds like nothing else in the forest. They are not very common in this part of the country, so, i am very very fortunate to have captured this primal call on " tape ". Equipment used: marantz pmd661, with stereo samson co-2 microphones mounted on a tripod about 4 feet from the ground. I was set up on a trail on the edge of a large forested area which eventually leads down to a huge lake. Recorded around 6:30pm on a mild evening--partly cloudy and temp was 74 degrees.

This is a snippet of perth's majestic bird life. The birds that feature in this recording are black cockatoos, and it was taken at the kensington bushland reserve at dusk. These birds are tribal, have incredible energy, and are extremely communicative, and hearing them squawk is one of my favourite parts of living here.
