While recording other sound effects with paper, i happened upon this sound that sound remarkably like a reload sound effect for some fantasy gun.

A raven flying by overhead in a forest on gabriola island off the coast of bc. Some droney ambiance from steel mill across the water in nanaimo. As the raven flies overhead, it is remarkable how well the mic picked up the flapping of its wings. Recorded with a zoom h2.

A delicate tinkling of ice recorded on a behringer ultravoice mic from tilting a plastic container of frozen turkey broth i took out of the freezer. Apparently a small number of free floating ice crystals were hitting a layer of frozen crystals on the lid, resulting in this remarkably musical sound. Please feel free to use as you like!.

The source of the sound originates in an apartment. I recorded the creaking noise of the front door with a zoom h4n. I didn't change effect as i wanted it to be used naturally as background noise and give special atmosphere, like in alfred hitchcock movies. I remarked this was a very clear, resourceful sound when going out from home: i heard it and suddenly thought that would be a good sound for the freesounders's community.

This is one repeat of the sound taken from a larger sound i've provided in this archive (which has repeated takes). If you pitch-shift this down about six steps and add a metal/plate/hall reverberation effect, it sounds remarkably like a sound you hear in the carbonite chamber scene in the empire strikes back :). This was recorded with a sony icd-st voice recorder held next to the glider, then noise removed with an audio tool, then normalized. I made this recording with my newly acquired $10 primo em172 omni mic capsules, which i soldered to a cable diy loosely based on this tutorial:http://www. Wildmountainechoes. Com/equipment/diy-stereo-electret-mics-primo-em-172-capsules/this is a good example of what the capsules sound like when plugged directly into an inexpensive zoom h1 audio recorder. So far i've been pretty stunned by the performance of these capsules, which are significantly more sensitive than the built in microphones on the h1, and to my ears sound much less muddy. I'm particularly impressed by this because the capsules are running on the 2. 5v of plug-in power that the h1 delivers, which is below the minimum specs of the capsules. Even so there is remarkably little noise. I can only imagine how they would sound with a battery pack to deliver a full 5 volts!.

Trying to start a 1983 volvo 245 after a stop at a gas station. First we hear the seatbelt warning signal after the driver turns the ignition on. The first start attempt fails. The two following attempts fail because the starter fails to engage with the flywheel, creating a very loud and unpleasant sound. There is some reverberation from the metal roof of the gas station.
