This is the warm up then lift off of an erickson sky crane. It was operating out of the central cascade mountains in washington state, in the us. This helicopter is for fire fighting, and can carry 3,000 gallons of water or retardant to a fire - it's enormous. There are only 31 sky cranes in existence, and in august of 2018 we have two of them fighting fires in our surrounding mountains.

I live next to a car repair place and they have a couple of hot rods that they fire up now and then. This is a '55 chevy and to me the idle sounds like a dragon breathing. He does a couple of slight burnouts and you can hear the echo off the buildings. Recorded with my yamaha pocketrak and edited with sony vegas with one track duplication. The squeaking sound is made from my fingers touching the tip and sides of the metal tip of the non-connected end of the cable. While i was in math class taking a test i just decided to record. Near 4:38 you can hear a bell ringing, just a heads up for anyone who doesn't want a interrupting bell. I took this sample from a phone message. I did use a live feed,(from the headset output on my phone, through a cable into my digital recorder. ) but it is very soft. When i tried recording with out the live feed, i couldn't even find the noise again. It could definitely use to be amped up a bit.

A recording of morning birds and other morning sounds (cars, bicycle) made in barnet england around 6am on a fine day on the 15th june of 2022. As it was near the solstice the sun was already up. The recording was made by poking a zoom h5 portable recorder outside a third story loft window. The microphones are the stereo pair included with that unit, with a windjammer.

While i was recording someone sharpening a garden scrape on a dual stone grinding machine, the utensil got stuck between one of the stones and a metal protective bracket, creating a terrifying noise until the motor gives up. I found when mixing the film that if you apply a cut around the upper-mid range of an eq that you remove a lot of the pressure heard from the exertion of the cork and it sounds more like a bottle cap opening but that's up to you. This is me dragging that switch up and down, slowly for each individual tick and then all at once. At first, there are people talking near by, but towards the end, i am further back and the group chatter effect can be noticed in whole.
