I recording made near some woods of the wind ebbing and flowing on an unusually mild day in late november of 2013. What i find unique about this recording is a lone cricket calling out at various times of this recording. . . Makes for a nice, almost melancholy feeling. It is almost like the cricket is not quite ready to hide away for the winter and is taking advantage of a rare 70-degree november day to call out as if to say "hey, i'm still here, waiting. . . In the grass. ". With headphones on, works wonders in clearing your head. . . This is almost the same kick drum i´ve uploaded previously, but this has more compression and overtones in the sub bass, along with an interesting technique i´ve been doing, lemme explain. . . I put the original sample twice in my daw (fl studio if you ask),leave the first sound like it is and the second sample is being equalized in a way that only the sub bass is being showed, so i added to that the saturation plugin ivgi2 from klangheim industries and slammed it with the plugin ott by xfer records about 9 times. Equalized the sound again to cut the sub bass and leave the raw high end sound you hear, finally added an izotope ozone imager to make it wider.

I recorded this from a balcony (5th floor) in the middle of a summer day (end of july), using a mid/side set (mkh30 + c480 b-uls/ck62-df omni) into sound devices mixpre3. Not any processing has been added, except a plain m/s to x/y stereo conversion and low-cut filter (30hz). This is a generally quiet atmo, sometimes light wind comes in, some seagulls and other birds are there at times, some construction work happens etc. The traffic noise is present, but in the distant way. Its a sine wave folded 4 times by a cgs inspired wavefolder module (kinda like the metalizer from the minibrute). The whole thing is then modulated with an external function generator that controls amount and frequency of modulation. This is what came out and it's pure junky drone noises, so goddamn nasty. A gunshot sound effect recorded for a high school production of the musical heathers. It was recorded on a zoom h1 and was made by a theatrical cap gun. I recorded it at a distance of about 5 feet and then again at a distance of about 40 feet from the audience and allowed the sound to reverberate both times. Then i duplicated both and mixed in both original sounds on top of each other, plus each sound pitched down 1 octave and the 40-feet away recording at 2 octaves down, plus the closer recording pitched one octave up. We then added and adjusted reverb in audacity and adjusted the sync of all the clips to be aligned, and adjusted the mix to make it sound as real as possible.

I was surprised this still worked. This is an old ibm selectric ii typewriter, with correcting tape, the “quieter” selectric at the time. It’s about 80 pounds, a real back-breaker. The carriage return bell is broken, unfortunately, so the best you might hear it is rattling due to the belt vibration. Recorded with a tascam dr-05, without the low-cut since i wanted a beefy sound. I found this fairly small low area, in deep woods, with about 5 inches of water in it. I wouldn't really say it is a pond because it will probably be dry in a month or so after the spring rains. (i think ecologists would call this small body of water an "ephemeral" pond). These spring peepers were putting on quite a chorus as the sun was going down. You'll hear a different sounding frog - or peeper - several times in: at 9 seconds in, 13 seconds in and 15 seconds in. When i first heard it, it sounded like a creaky door! hope you find this fascinating and enjoyable as well. Would make a great soundtrack for a swampy piece. Recorded using my trusty rode ntg-2 going into a zoom h4n recorder.

I used the effect "amplification" to reduce the noise of the street and increase the sound of step. Here is a recording taken from a boardwalk running through a swamp in jackson county illinois. Recorded on friday september 23 2022 as the season of autumn begins to stir. By now the neo-tropical warblers and other migrants are gone. Leaving the woodpeckers and blue jays and crows. A reflective ambiance of a now dry swamp, slowing down awaiting the arrival of full-on autumn, then winter. You hear the wind sifting through the branches of the oaks, and hickories and maples, the chattering of woodpeckers, and, since this is the time of year of the harvest, you hear the often dropping of acorns, and hickory nuts, and pieces of hickory nuts and acorns, as the squirrels 30 feet above the swamp get sloppy with their lunch. Here's some more of that young couple next door. For this one, they probably went 15+ minutes. Their libido must be really high for this day/night. From my listening, it seems like they were not doing it in bed the entire time. They must have used other furniture and played around in different positions. From 3:30 or even before that is when they start. Passed 5:00 is when the woman starts to moan loud. 14:55 is when they finish. 16:07 guy says i'm tired. Note that the original audio had more bed and furniture creak noises, almost 30 mins long, and some of their chats cut out. Also note that some of the noises left in on the good parts may not be sex noises. This was edit and shorten with audacity.

This is an alternate recording i took on 04/26/2014, on microcassette, of an art installation in madison, wi titled "asylum," created by marina kelly and megan katz. This was taken at the same time as the cassette recording i uploaded previously; if asked by kelly or katz i will respectfully take both down. "asylum" was a temporary art installation located in the tenney park passageway under east johnson street. From what i saw when i was there, it was just a speaker or two playing some ambient sounds. These sounds could have been generated based on environmental input, but due to lack of evidence i can't conclusively say that was indeed the case. I was in a bad mood on this recording so apologies for the negativity/language.

These are two guitar solo outtakes from a guest guitar session i was asked to be on. They essentially wanted that early era slayer vibe where there is more cacophonous noise than structure. I think i recorded 15-20 for two sections in one song. They chose two other files and this was the one i liked best to keep as a memento. I am the creator and owner of the audio contained within the file. I know guitarists these days want to sound like an andy sneap plugin, but this may give someone a different idea. Within the context of the song they were for they fit well. I'm not apologizing for the playing or quality of the recording. Just something i did for a friend that took me 4x as long to set up than total time under the red light. It was fun.

The guest room i am staying in has a tile bathroom. Each time i take a shower, i hear this magnificent hum of the water heater clicking on and then turning off once the shower water is stopped. I was fortunate enough to hear it click on while i wasn't in the shower and captured about 30 seconds of it before it died. Infinite variation, impossible to replicate. At the end, as the water heater shuts down, it clicks down into the lowest ranges of the frequency spectrum; i didn't hear it until i listened to the recording but the couple of seconds of that are just as magical. Wish i would have left the recorder running!. Captured with a zoom h3-vr to ambix format at 96k24bit and bounced to stereo. Processing: 24db gain to all 4 clips, izotope spectral denoise to get rid of the air in the room and izotope ozone to enhance the bass signal a touch. Enjoy!.

This replica of my tinnitus was created using the free program called audacity. Http://audacityteam. Org/i had to generate 3 different 'tones' and combine them before i felt the high-ish noise was close to what i hear. I then had to search freesound for something that i only hear beneath the high pitch noise when my house is very quiet, which is something like the sound of strong wind outside a closed window or a power station a mile away. So, not being an expert with audacity, i just went down the list of 'effects', trying each one, until i found "paulstretch", which somehow increases the time length of your sound file, without stretching as in 'elastic', which would deepen the existing tones, and apparently, without copying and pasting. The sound does change somewhat, becoming just slightly ragged, but it's a very interesting effect for this application and actually got used on both elements to produce the final sound. . I hope no one enjoys this sound and can't imagine that anyone will. It makes me feel slightly sick. . One of my favorite spots to hike in illinois has this quite long, and beautiful and rock-lined beautiful creek. Now, even though this creek is in heavy forest, which often leads to very low water levels during the summer, this creek is spring fed so it always has a beautiful ribbon of pure water running 12 months out of the year. I've spent many minutes and countless hours beside this living, breathing water-course pondering the beauty of nature, and reflecting back on my childhood. This is a first in a series of loops made with the x-base09 drum-kit i have posted long time ago, i thought this would be a nice addition. Loops will be mainly processed in live9. Information will be available depending on the loop. This loop is a dry unprocessed loop, all i did was reduce the release on one of the kicks, as it has a long delay, and i didn't want that in the background of this loop, some midi velocity on the hi-hats, and i added a groove (chachacha) with only 10% quantization. This first loop was mainly to show the original sound of the individual hits as they where recorded, playing as a loop to give you a better picture of the sounds and therefore i added it to the x-base kit instead of x-base loop pack.

I wanted to create a sound that is scary. I was inspired by sounds for jumpscare sequences in horror movies. So here i generated an audio track and i added a « batterie risset » on it. It gaves a sound that sounds like a bell so i duplicated it 3 times more on 3 different audio tracks. Once done, i accelarated and turn up the volume on the second audio track a bit more compared to the first audio track. I repeated it on the 2 other tracks to give the impression that something is getting closer to us. After that, i generated a new audio track with a tone, i put it on overlap with the forth track and i highly turn up the volume to create a saturation in order to strongly surprise the listener. To finish, i checked that the final mixed track was not saturated, except the sequence i wanted to be saturated, and i exported the sound.
