I recorded the sound of my dog's collar using a zoom h4n recorder and a rode m3 microphone. This would be a good sound used in the background in an outdoor scene. I can imagine this recorded noise starting off soft and gradually getting louder to indicate a dog walking by before it softens up and gradually trails off as the dog gets further and further away.

That was originally a boring industrial water heating system furnace. So i fooled around with audio effects to give that result that sounds like one of those old low budget science fiction movies or even some cartoons. It can be used in many type of stuff, it's up to your imagination.

I took another sample from a malfunctioning arcade cabinet, this time giving off a repetitive droning hum. Listening to it without context, i imagine being in a control center containing heavy industrial computing machines.
Insects (i think mostly crickets) make this noise. It sounds so. . . Infernal!, or futuristic (electronic for sure). I recorded this (with my old zoom ii recorder) one summer night in tlacotlapan, at the southern mexican state of veracruz. All this happened for hours inside my hotel room. Imagine you are in a creaky old house during a thunderstorm. The old grandfather clock ticking away, a couple of cats somewhere in the house and no reception from an old black and white television or radio but your nice and cosy in front of a crackling log fire.
To make this series of sounds, i blended a bunch of samples together, some recorded on my go-to usb mic, some synthesized in ableton. I thought they fit together nicely vs being isolated pieces. This was recorded on july 4th, 2013 in enumclaw, wa. I was not expecting the bomber to fly over and it was a tribute to one of the last surviving members (edward saylor) of the doolittle raid on tokyo on april 18th, 1942. He was in the parade too. I can just imagine the sound of hundreds flying over in ww2. There is a bit of distortion as the plane flew directly overhead. Please comment on what you will use it for. :^).

Recorded at home on a rode nta1 mic using adobe audition cs6 on a pc. The voice is my own, the only edit was a cleaning of bg noise on the record and a trim to remove extraneous sound.

A bubbling sound which makes an excellent loop for a background sound effect. Like a scientist's lab, or a wizard's cauldron bubbling away. I've also thought it would be a cool sort of futuristic bubble car kind of sound as well as it floats along. Anyway, use your imagination and apply it to whatever you want. I made the sound by flicking my lips with my finger, but it makes a great bubble sound.
