Recording at 11:45pm on new years eve in the city of london. Calm before the storm. Recorded using roland r26 - 48khz 24bit.

Midnight recording from the streets of neukölln, berlin, on new years day 2009. In germany, this is the one day of the year when members of the general public are allowed to set off fireworks. Echoes of bombs and fusillades ring out across the city, while clouds of smoke tumble menacingly through the streets. Close by, a peaceful child sets off sparklers, and is astonished by the display. In the morning, the streets are littered with their remnants -- charred bits of paper, streaks of red ash. Recorded with an edirol r-09. From a contemporaneous news report:. "clashes in three german cities marred new year celebrations, with police facing their toughest challenge from a crowd of mostly young revellers in the capital berlin in the small hours of yesterday. One small breakaway group from that crowd, which numbered 1,000 at the peak, tried to fire a skyrocket inside a police station and invade it, police spokesman frank millert said. The rocket lodged in a broken window and burned itself out, but several police were injured by the flying glass. Police arrested three on arson charges. This is a recording made from the balcony of my apartment in italy in the province of rieti, the other evening during the two-hour new year's barrels. From 11 they gradually begin to increase gradually until midnight when they get really strong, then gradually decrease gradually until ten to one, when you hear all silence. This recording was done with my iphone 11 connected to the shure mv88 plus digital stereo microphone.

New year eve's, the clock strikes 12am janurary 1, 2012; hollywood, california. There are a few edits in this recording because of wind noise. Watch out for a loud air horn at around 2:00.

I set out to record new year's eve fireworks, but didn't anticipate the dog going so crazy. It's not a great recording, because of the dog and its owner yelling, but it has moments. Recorded with: audio technica bp4025, sound devices 702t.

Recorded in fryers forest in country victoria, australia. I placed a my mics on the end of a jetty facing across the small "lake" towards a house where we had our new year's eve celebrations. It was a small gathering of around a dozen people, there was no countdown, in fact midnight crept up on us! in the far distance you can hear fireworks in castlemaine a small town about 15 km away. Recorded with and ms setup using a sennheiser 416 and a sennheiser mkh 30 into my zoom h4n.

Recording of some new year's celebrations in vienna. Captured using a clippy stereo em172 microphone and a zoom h5 handheld recorder. I positioned the microphone capsules outside the window on the left and right and then gently (almost) closed it. I setup the recorder and rolled the whole evening. Recorded from the window of my attic flat in walkley bank, sheffield. This is the moment of new year's day 2021. You can hear a small amount of children in the background and one child suddenly shouting "happy new year" and scaring the bejesus out of me at about 3 minutes. I change position at 1 minute 30 (pretty much climbing entirely out of the window) and you get a much more impressive surround sound feel after that. There's also a huge explosion right at the end that is definitely worth waiting for.
