The variation of sound and pitch is from moving my fingers up and down the metal tip in different speeds, angles, and placements.

I got on a cable car to the top of mt. Hakodate. My edirol r-09 happened to catch the sigh of a young woman next to me saying 'kirei' over the outspread night view of the town. It means 'how beautiful,' 'c'est magnifique,' or something like that. Recorded on 17 feb, 2008 with built-in mics.

This is audio of just about the entire ride of the powell-hyde cable car line in san francisco, recorded on 08/26/2015. Late evening trip through the city. To create this sound i recorded a disposable lighter in my bedroom. To record, i used my aston spirit microphone on cardioid polar pattern and my focusrite scarlett 18i20 second generation (2nd gen) interface running pro tools from my mac at 48khz, 24 bit. I also used a reflection filter to lower rt60 so this sound has minimal reverb to tape. The cable i used was made of canford hst cable and has neutrik xlr connectors.
