Night-time wide angle stereo recording of manhattan, as heard from across the east river, the recorder was kindly allowed access to the veranda of the riverview restaurant & lounge in long island city and is facing the manhattan skyline. Some noises of the restaurant can be heard in the background, very subdued, the quiet lapping of the east river can be heard in the foreground, and manhattan bustle and traffic on the fdr drive is in the wide range. Recorded in march 2012 with a zoom h2, mics set to 90° dispersion.

I was looking for the sound of a hot engine clicking and found just one with lots of background noises. So i decided to build it from scratch in bitwig studio and this is it. The sound starts with fast clicking slowing down. It's not perfect, you can still hear it's made from samples. But as the sound is normally used at low volume, i think i can get away with it. Feel free to add a gate and shape it even further. I may upload an updated version later.

There is some traffic present but it's mostly about the voices and energy of teens. You can hear the clack and roll of skate boards, voices and gritty near by footsteps. For the sake of it i patched one of the gates to the ladik r-110 rnd t/g (random trigger and gate). Result much more randomness than i can use. I can tell you that there is a lot of blinking diodes :-) sounds from doepfer a-110 and 2hp osc and sampler soundmachines ul1uloop.
