A simple guitar gesture played on a blueridge br-63 with old strings, recorded with a zoom h4n about 8 inches away from and pointed at the sound hole, reduced to mono with audacity. This sound was recorded for the purposes of harmonic + stochastic analysis in xavier serra's coursera class, audio signal processing for music applications.

The signal was fed into a digidesign a/d converter and recorded in protools 9 in waveform audio file format. All the samples were subsequently edited with the gpl software audacity. I have several unused items. As i have benefited several times from this website, it's time to give back. Why not. This was recorded in my home studio, using my condenser microphone, the isk u99 (neumann knock-off, so the seller and a friend said to me; i wouldn't know however. ) powered by apogee duet preamp and simple shock-mount, i hope this recording clean enough for many uses. I recorded in close proximity, hence the high frequency a bit harsh. No edit. No effect. Cheers.

My friend cracking his neck and fingers, needs a little bit of cleaning up but used it for a neck break in a project the finger cracks were good for the neck break.

Let me set the scene for this audio because i am a nerd. . . Burbank, california. A large apartment/condominium complex with an open courtyard and a swimming pool and hot tub. Now, for some reason in la, nobody ever seems to actually use pools or hot tubs anymore so it's not hard to get clean audio. So, from beginning to end you will basically hear me turn the automatic shutoff dial on the wall, walk to the hot tub, get in the hot tub, and sit in various positions for extended periods of time. This is the sound of someone shaking a kinder surprise egg trying to guess what's inside (like in the tv advert). This is a simple sound that i recorded with a zoom h2n handy recorder. I just cut the extra recording parts, and added a noise reduction effect to clean it in audacity.

An antique underwood no. 11 typewriter, ca. 1925. Sound was recorded on a zoom h4 in a sound booth. However, it didn't have a bell or a platen, so the key is hitting the platen of another typewriter from the 1970s. Audio cleaned up in audacity. Hail and rain storm recorded in palm beach gardens florida. Used a new rode ntg5 direct to a zoom h6 recorder. Cleaned up in adobe audition. Hail is bouncing off of gutters and cars then turns to a light rain with a hint of thunder in the background.

This a spare recording from a short film i was making. It's a stereos track but all sounds are recorded to the left channel. This was recorded on a zoom h4n and a sennheiser me67. The sound is of a woodland near liskeard, cornwall, uk. There are occasionally cars passing, but mostly it's quite clean - and the cars might be useful for somebody.

I just tested the recently released plugin moscillator (by meldaproduction) and fiddled around with the parameters. It's always the same fundamental. But i automated the parameters for the harmonic's post-processor (sharpen, clean, harmonize, noise, compress). In the end i just put a reverb (eareverb [preset: "under the city"], 100% wet) after the oscillator.

Very short tick. This is a sound i found on my forest recording. Something must have fallen on my mics. It made a very nice, clean and natural tick sound. I cut it out from the ambient sound normalized, made a little fade-out and saved as 24-bit flac. The original recording was 96khz/24bit.

Sweeping beans scattered on the floor onto a plastic dustpan. You can hear the sweeping and then how the beans hit the plastic. It can work for other small objects being swept, like beads, seeds and such. It also kind of sounds like small pieces of wood or plastic rolling around a plastic container.

Made this just walking on the road near my house, no car passings. There's a bit of gravel on the road kicked up from car tires. I just recorded this with my phone so it's not a perfectly clean recording (as far as background noise).

Clean notes played on a home-made diddley bow. Sampled with an electric pickup and a little added reverb to make up for lack of sustain. Seasick steve inspired me to construct a diddley bow (it ain't hard). All you need is a length of wire, 4 or 5 ft of two-by-four, some timber nails, an empty bottle and a hammer.
