I was demoing the new digital performer 10. 1 with a royer r-10 pair in blumlein array but wanted to check out one of the ribbons because it possibly sounded blown so i went ahead not bothering to create a new mono file. The mic was tracked through a yamaha mixer into digital performer via a motu 624. I have various cymbals including a paiste hi-hat and a zildjian ride which i bowed or scraped. There is an occasional tiny bit of noise from the hard drive, sorry. It has the hiccups. Some of these have an effect or two like a flange on one or more and a bit of delay but mostly you just hear the marvelous and very interesting cymbals!.

I created another file to play when you don't recognise a telephone number that calls you, this time the people in the hoax have scottish accents and the music is deliberately degraded to make it scratchy, tinny and annoying. I was inspired by those nasty auto-switchboards you encounter now whenever you call anywhere, my thoughts were that if a spam caller conected to an auto-switchboard hopefully they would remove your number from their listings thinking it a business (most scammers and spammers only want to call residential numbers). This recording was made alongside a camera trap survey while at loagan bunut national park in sarawak, malaysia. It's a quite nice little bit that we didn't expect to ever find a use for, but came across this website and through i would share it. Something i threw together for a personal project i was working on. I couldn't find any high quality samples of a dragon so i decided to make my own. This was created using ableton and contains the following sounds:a dog growlinga lion roara horse gruntingan elephant vocalisinga flamethrower sound. All sounds used were obtained from royalty free websites and manipulated using software so that the original samples are not identifiable. Moderately flowing stream - jack creek in central oregon's cascade mountains flows out of the ground at the base of three fingered jack mountain. The water comes from a glacier on the mountain a couple of miles from where multiple springs create the large creek bubbling up from the dry ground. This recording was done several hundred feet downstream where the creek was already about 50 wide and only about a foot deep. In this sample you hear a recording from inside a well sound insulated room, directly under the roof of a house. Strong rain hints the roof and produces low frequency muted sounds. In the background you hear the constant noise of the rain, coming through the window. There are also a few raindrops hitting the glass of the window. The sample was recorded using the built-in stereo microphone of a zoom h4n recorder. It was slightly processed to remove unwanted low and high frequencies which were not related to the actual recording. This jump scare sound was created by playing 2 dissonant chords on a single coil telecaster mic'd up w/ a vox ac 10 amp. The two guitar tracks are panned left and right- reverb and delay are added. The delay tail you can hear oscillates between left and right speaker as it fades. Additionally, frequency enhancers were added between 4khz - 6khz which adds a higher tonal energy in the upper range of the guitar. Bought an old sony walkman from an antique mall. It was advertised as "radio works, but cassette player does not play. " this was true, and i was surprised at the noises it made when you tried to play tapes, though whether or not you have a tape or not it makes these types of noises when you switch it to the metal/chrome setting with dolby b on. You can add a 60 hertz hum if you touch any of the metal parts, and can somewhat mess the sound by messing with the spindles as they move. I may upload some more samples of this at one point, with cleaner recording of each of the sounds you can create.

Five minutes of rain, artificially created. Using a blue yeti usb condenser mic on the cardioid pattern, i made a 30-minute recording of sounds from my sink (drips, splashes, different faucet pressures) and cut them up into 60 files, later edited down to 20. These were layered together and mixed with white, pink, and brownian noise. Slight noise removal done. Recorded some basic mic noise, and used a subtractive processor (reafir in reaper) to remove that sound from the final mix. Convolution reverb was added for a fairly realistic set-it-and-forget-it option. I've uploaded a dry version as well.

Sound of footsteps (hiking boots) in an artificial stone tunnel about 4 to 5 metres in diameter in brezzo di bedero (northern italy). The tunnel is part of the structures of the 'cadorna' defence line, dating back to wwi, and leads to an artillery emplacement in a cave. Sound of footsteps and crunching gravel under the soles, with a slight echo and reverberation from the cave environment. Perfect for creating eerie, natural and industrial backgrounds and first-person vr experiences. Recorded with a zoom h1n held in hand while walking and pointed towards the feet.

I've benefited from freesound in the past so i wanted to give something back. I created this audio sample of the black speech of mordor (a section of the ring poem), as part of a cinematic orchestral lord of the rings piece to add flavour to it and wondered if others might find a use for it in their own projects.
