Dark and noisy indoor ambience, normalized to -6 db. Recorded using a rode ntg2 shotgun microphone, placed three meters back from the window of a room of 5 x 5 x 3 meters. Sounds from cars and trucks running over a distant road can be heard in background.

A recording of my puppy whining, recorded with a zoom h4n. I placed him a dark room with the door cracked and he eventually figured out he could just push the door open.

A man wakes up in a strange dark place and starts asking questions. Good for haunted house scene possibly. . . Use this accompanied quickly by the sound of a chainsaw maybe?.

A sort of low-pitch breathing-like sound of some big thing lurking in the deep, useful for background ambient on some kind of scary place. All components of this were made from mixing various effects together in fl studio.

Contact microhone placed on metal plate. Light tapping and scratching by hand, in the second half scratching by another thin metal tool. Vacuum tube amplifier with contact microphone.

First attempt at recording with audacity and my new keyboard. All sounds are bone-stock from the mx49. I've only added a little reverb in one 15-second section of the piece. I didn't intend to do anything in particular, just checking out sounds on the keys and getting familiar with audacity. I think of it as a 21st century version of the beatles "revolution 9". Dark background sound in place of background music. I recorded this in my booth, using audacity and my cad e100s. The higher sound is a pen tapping on the bottom of a metal cup. I used various effects to stretch, raise pitch, and a few others. I also layered the higher sound 4 times to get the "harmony". The low sound was my voice. I lowered pitch, speed and stretched the wave, as well as a few other effects as well. Enjoy.

A sound i made by combining effects with a noise in a long process , ending up sounding "natural" but in a cool way. . Sounds like tubes with running hot air or liquid in a big big place , its also a surreal dreamy sound thats sort of dark and also a bit pleasant and relaxing.

An eight minute long soundscape i made for an episode of an audio fiction podcast. Intended to give the impression of a strange and otherworldly empty void, and to mildly imply sci-fi machinery with a spiritualist undertone. However, could easily be used for other projects where you want to create a feeling of discomfort, or of being in a strange and empty place.

11/29/2018 - burbank, california. Rain, flooding, and mudslides come to california when a sudden storm hit today. Most people got off the freeways quickly and tried to protect their homes from water damage. This recording was recorded with a zoomh4npro (2018) set at 120 degree field-pattern mode. The zoom was placed on a tripod facing out a 3rd floor window into a dead-end alleyway below. This recording is great atmospheric sound. The water can be heard trickling off spanish tile rooftops and dripping from overflowing terracotta pots. From the passing cars on a distant highway, to the occasional cough of a homeless gentleman walking on the street below, this recording is genuine and clean. Imagine adding that sound of a metal garbage can and a shrieking cat in the night! a sound that's great for sleeping or portraying a dark alley in gotham!. Enjoy!. Christopher c. Courter.
