I recorded this sound in a rainy istanbul day from my room. You can hear seagulls cooing, cars passing through a wet road and splashes of rain drops. (splashes are not loud enough to hear easily but i had nothing to do about it. ).

Amid the din of my neighbor's barking dog, passing traffic and singing birds, you can hear the quacking of a large flock of ducks in the quiet river outside my kitchen window (i don't know the species to this day). I used the built-in microphone of my mini lenovo laptop to record this.

This recording was taken at camp eureka, which is at yarra junction in victoria. It wasn't recorded in the bush, but there are plenty of trees at the camp and the bush is nearby. The recording is mostly birdsong. It was taken in the middle of the day during autumn. It was recorded using the built in microphones of a zoom h5 portable recorder.

I started world listening day off listening to cardigan town at night with the barn owls hissing. A long recording from a velux roof window onto an edirol r44 with rode ntg-1 mic in blimp. The owls are particularly active about 18-20minutes in!.

I recording made near some woods of the wind ebbing and flowing on an unusually mild day in late november of 2013. What i find unique about this recording is a lone cricket calling out at various times of this recording. . . Makes for a nice, almost melancholy feeling. It is almost like the cricket is not quite ready to hide away for the winter and is taking advantage of a rare 70-degree november day to call out as if to say "hey, i'm still here, waiting. . . In the grass. ". With headphones on, works wonders in clearing your head. . . Recording made at 6:30 at night with my handy / zoom h4 n recorder using the internal microphones, and of course using a very very stout wind screen. Enjoy.

This was all recorded in enumclaw, wa on july 4th, 2013. I used a yamaha pocketrak recorder throughout the day and into evening when the fireworks started. There's an old piano outside the music store and i just caught the end of a young guy playing some nice music. I then just walked down the street recording the sounds. You can hear me talking to a guy who's working for a local politician. The b-25 mitchell bomber flyover was totally unexpected and i was lucky to have had the recorder going. Plane- it’s difficult to get good recordings of planes taking off these days. There’s always major streets or highways close by which results in a bunch of unwanted traffic noise. It’s difficult to find a good vantage point to set up because there’s hardly any public parking with unobstructed sight lines (or in my case hearing lines) to the planes. Plus, with all the extra security measures in place these days, how suspicious would i look setting up a laptop andsome cables and some other electronic equipment in the general area of the runway?but i managed to get this recording. It’s not spectacular, but it’s ok. There’s some worker truck at the end of it which gets in the way, but doesn’t ruin it. I like to listen to static (often actually) and it actually shifts a lot through out the day. So i heard some cool ringy stuff. . & decided to sweep through the am band. . . And actually touching the screen of my cell made the static louder. Sounds like a synth.

Walk around otari-wilton bush reserve in wellington, new zealand. Sunny day, lots of circadas, birds and sounds of stream. Plane overhead, some footsteps and other people on tracks. The reserve is about 100 hectares of native bush on the edge of wellington.
