I captured this sound on my canon powershot a460 digital camera. It was a horrible night, with strong winds and heavy rain. I went to my garden shed and positioned my camera at the small window inside my shed as there is a small hole in the right hand corner of the window, and through this small hole the wind blows through it making this whistle sound, almost like a flute. Class 52 “western” diesel-hydraulic locomotive, d1015 “western champion”, powered by two maybach md655 units (each developing 1,350 bhp). Recorded at cardiff central railway station, south wales, uk, 27 october 2007. Background station noises are also recorded, “western champion” is heard with the maybachs idling whilst the locomotive is at rest. The change in engine pitch is when “western champion” accelerates away from the station pulling a train of eight coaches. Recorded, hand held, using built-in microphone to a pentax opti 750z digital camera.

Recorded with only a small digital video camera at a cafe in pushkar, india. As i sat by the lake one afternoon, two indians sat down on the ground in front of me and began playing this and singing. There is background cafe noises and the odd motorbike going by and beeps, people talking and its not great quality but, someome may like it. . . This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version.
