Recorded with only a small digital video camera at a cafe in pushkar, india. As i sat by the lake one afternoon, two indians sat down on the ground in front of me and began playing this and singing. There is background cafe noises and the odd motorbike going by and beeps, people talking and its not great quality but, someome may like it. . . It is as natural as you can get, raw sounds of india!(unfortunately, i have no idea what they are saying, id love to know if anyone could translate it?)recorded september, 2012.

It was raining one night so i used a sony px720 digital voice recorder to catch some hopefully cool atmospheric type sounds. I placed the recorder next to my apartment window and stepped away for a few minutes. My window is situated right next to a rain-gutter so you hear the rain hitting the pavement along with the rain flowing down the gutter. You also hear four different cars drive by during the recording. Well that's about it hopefully these sounds are of some use to people.

A recording made around 7:30pm at night in mid october of 2012 of leaves skittering across an asphalt street, making that unique, crackly sound. You will also hear a train off in the distance which i think adds to the sound-scape of fall. At 1:51 into the recording a car whooshes buy and with it, a cluster of leaves trailing behind it trying in vain to keep up. . . That's always been a wonderful sound sequence for me to hear. Dont ask why this is named like that lol, made using a lot of layers but the fundamental of the snare is synthesized, distorted the first miliseconds of the sample to make an snappy transient and make it cut throught the mix. For the process i used analog modelled plugins such as exciters, tube saturators, preamps, coloring eqs, and compressors alongside with some digital modelled plugins such as camelcrusher, transient shaper and sliceeq both by kilohearts, the compressor mjucjr ny klanghelm to amplify the waveform of the sample and finally a clipshifter plugin, which i love it, to limit the snare aggresively.

This is a recording made in italy in the province of rieti while i filmed everything, as i was returning home, then i left my apartment, then i took the elevator and went to the top floor where i then went up to the roof of my palace, then i took the elevator again and went downstairs out the door and then got into the car. This recording was done with the shure mv88 plus digital stereo microphone connected to my new iphone 12 pro.

Around 2010, i circuit-bent a motorola cellphone and added a control surface to control the bends. Then i added an atari paddlewheel so its big potentiometer could be used to do pitchbends, and the result is an instrument i called the "sonic electronic ball breaker". It's got knives, quarterstaves, thor's lightning, sharp sticks, nuclear machineshotguns, and even some claws that come out to jab 'em. In this sample i'm going through and playing with the controls to see what i get. These sounds are pretty abrasive, but they work well when run through a bunch of effects.

My contribution to the freesouond collaborative performance of gyorgi ligeti's "poème symphonique for 100 metronomes". The metronome is marked "wittner" and "made in w. Germany". It ran for a little over 13 minutes at about 140. 7 bpm. Recorded on the hardwood floor of my bedroom, with the mic in front about 30 cm away. Equipment used: oktava mk102 mic, art digital mpa preamp, m-audio audiophile card. This sample is completely unprocessed. It looks limited or clipped, but i can't hear it - must be from the tube preamp (i had the gain cranked way up). It's pretty quiet, but if you listen carefully you may hear some noises in the background, especially near the beginning where i leave the room.

My headphones started to screw themselves over while i was going for a walk with them and it started pouring in the middle of my walk. Which made my headphones pretty much unusable and it seemed to make this strange static noise even when turned off. It was actually kinda creepy but i did realise that this would make for a good sound for a videogame or movie that needs static of some kind. It's just too bad my headphones don't work anymore. A technical problem i had with my technics stereo cassette desk rs-5 where playback would deliver this fading squarewave at maximum volume. Apparently, it could have been an issue with the tape header wearing out. Thought i might as well upload it here, as i'm not sure anyone will be able to create this sound again. Note, this sound was de-amplifiied by 10 db in audacity 3. 1. 3. Simply put, the raw file was incredibly loud.
