Recorded near a drainpipe, i have no idea what the bass wind sound in the background is. I think it was some sort of exhaust from the basement around, but i don't know why it turned off and on. In any case it makes for a very spooky ambient effect.

Some old v8 engined cars in a parade, idling and occasionally revving. They have open headers, meaning they have no mufflers and either no or very small exhaust pipes, therefore they're loud and "burbly"! there is some chatter from people standing on the parade route as well. Recorded on a tascam dr-44.

An interesting sound from a house we were staying at. The outdoor exhaust for the clothes dryer made this jet like noise, particularly when the microphone was moved around it. There are some bird and mower noises in the background, but this really just wants to be the basis for some cool sound design jets, whooshes, turbines, etc. Play with it and make something cool. Recorded with a zoom h1n, 24-bit, 48khz, stereo. Cleaned up a bit in izotope rx.

Recorded during riding by attaching a zoom h4n at my left leg. The xy-microphone pointed vertically direction to the seat/engine, so no spectacular stereo-sound, but different sound timbre on l/r. The exhaust had a rusted hole so it's not the original vespa-sound but more rough. Different styles of driving. Including starter and switching off. No sound editing was made, so maybe you like to filter away low frequencies (some little wind was behind the shield).

This is a clip of various engine sounds recorded on my 2003 subaru impreza wrx with a 3" turbo-back exhaust system. The audio starts with the engine at idle and includes a few engine revs at different rpms. You can hear some turbo whistling and also some rattling of god-knows-what parts. It's a little muffled (kind of a muddy sound), but could be used as part of an action sequence or with a music track laid over. A drowsy, warm lazy hot day in mid-summer in the forest of the midwestern usa. As is the case around mid-july, the birds are not singing as much. Perhaps they are just exhausted from raising a family and wilting from the heat. The insect chorus ebbs and flows, like the ocean waves creeping up on the beach, and retreating back. Except, unlike the ocean which never stops moving, the insects will eventually stop singing and hibernate for the winter. I have always loved the sound of propeller-driven planes and their slow, molasses-like sound. That sound has always induced a melancholy touch to the recordings. To me, this drowsing plane symbolizes change -- even though the birds and plants are still in full growth, the end is near. . . In about four more weeks schools will resume, the emphasis for many will turn inward. Leaving the woods to deal with the transition. The droning plane, like ocean waves, symbolize change. . . In several months there woods will be drastically changed. Recording made on july 18, 2022 using sound devices mixpre 6 and the sennheiser mkh 8020 omnidirectional microphone. Enjoy this peaceful ambiance, and hopefully it will trigger some long-past memories for you.
