Quiet urban residential area in tokyo at about 2 am in the late summer (october, i think). You can hear far off traffic, some night insects and a drunk guy who came to close to my hidden mics to take a whiz. Excluding the peeing guy, quiet parts are perfect for looping (for ambient background sounds in video or audio works). The peeing guy might actually be useful, so i didn't cut it out. Faithfully recorded with a stereo mic pair placed at a 90 degree angle. The left-right balance was adjusted and the stereo field was expanded later to fix the lopsided sided flatness of the original recording. Other than that, the recording is unprocessed.

*warning* --- you may want to turn your volume down*this was accidently created when i was goofing around trying to convert an iso file. It was actually for the movie "a beautiful mind". When the conversion started i wanted to see what it looked like so far and this is what i got out of it. I didn't want to delete it because it sounded so cool. . . . If you have a recording device on your person, you get a lot of stuff you'd otherwise miss altogether. This rig helps me get those things too ephemeral to capture with a stereo pair; sounds i would regret not having at all. I keep it on my belt 90% of the time. Just in case.

A peaceful, drowsy-ish recording of a midwestern usa large field bordered by heavy forest. This was recorded in mid summer, on a very hot day. Temperature was 90 degrees, but, with 45% humidity it was manageable. The good thing about this recording is i was far enough away from humanity's engines to get no cars, no boats, no loud. . . . Anything. Well, except the insect chorus. This is the time of year in illinois that autumn is getting imperceptibly closer. The skies are clearer blue with less humidity. . . A few trees had red leaves. Nature taking a breather. Recorded at 2:30pm on thursday august 26, 2022 using a mixpre 6 recorder. Left channel: rode nt5 cardioid microphone. Right channel: sennheiser mkh 416 microphone.

This ambience was recorded on zoom h6 with msh-6 mid-side stereo mic capsule. Recording was edited and decoded. Mic was positioned right in a frame of an open window so that it won't get flood from a heavy rain and pick up much room reflections. My flat where i recorded from was on 4th floor. There was a busy street 50m far from the apartment building itself, a bit further there was a park. Rain at that night was heavy. Also you can hear several heavy thunder hits of various distance throughout the whole recording. Hope this recording will help to enhance the sound of your next project. This stereo recording was made on november 23, 2014 in grays harbor washington during a rare thunderstorm. The clip contains rain falling on a wooden deck and recurring peals of thunder both near and far. This original recording was made using a zoom h-6 handy recorder with zoom stereo xy microphone. The track was edited in audacity 2. 0. 6 to remove a few artifacts. Total run time for this wav file is: 8:29. This is my first upload. I am hearing impaired and new to field audio recording. I am fascinated by this art form and hearing sounds that i haven’t been able to hear in twenty years. I'm at the corner of 5th and kansas not far from kair 93. 7fm studios. This sound starts with the band from part1 departing and a truck passing. Children talk and yell and a man yells something. Another band approaches. A woman seems to tell someone to say cheese in the distance. The file ends when the band gets a bit too loud for my microphone. Recorded with goldwave with an asus laptop in my backpack and a microsoft lifecam3000 poking out of it facing behind me clothes-pinned to one of the handles of the pack. Unfortunately microsoft no longer supports their lifecam apps so it's not possible to turn down the internal mic gain.

We went to strasbourg to follow an invitation by an photographer to his vernissage! to bad that we got stucked into the traffic jam and arrived while the gallery was already closed! that was really a bummer because the drive took us four hours!lucky that i had my zoom h6 because strasbourg is by far an amazing city with so many street life. It is insane how many little streets with these tiny cafes and all the people around! it is like a magnet and you got sucked in. The french people know how to live life and i recorded in 3 parts of the city to give you a nice ambience feeling. This is part 1.

Autumn forest wind. Heavy, fast gusty in tall pine trees. Some birds and raindrops. Soundscapes of natural white noise of moderate intensity. Some are stagnant or static and with few birds. The presents of the colourful red and yellow dry leaves that is still on the trees, creates the noise of the wind with rustling whispers. Is a constantly form of natural white noise that is always changing and evolving. These recordings is from my third attempt. I think it is very difficult to record the “spirit” and unique sound of the wind. This is pure natural wind sounds (no layering, no post-processing, no synthesizers). Originally recorded at 24 bit sony dat tcd-d7 on a sony ecm-909 microphone. Recorded in sweden september of 2007 in a wet cold beautiful colourful forest, with all kind of trees, far away from any traffic or human sounds.

This is a recording of an escalator at the main bus station in helsinki, finland. I heard it making this sound one day. It was quite loud in the space and i heard if from far away. It sounded like a street performer playing an odd instrument. I imagined that a drummer would have had fun jamming along with this. I missed the opportunity to record it that week, but luckily the thing wasn't fixed the next week when i was again at the same place. This was recorded with iphone xr, so it's not super quality (i actually took a video really close to the escalator, hoping the video recording gives the best sound), but maybe somebody finds some use for this (the sound can likely be well isolated). This is as unprocessed as it can be, straight from the original video.

I was on the way back from our easterfire, an old german tradition in the night before easter sunday. Similar to the bonfire in august in britain. I heard the nightingale singing, went at home took my sennhiser me80 with the windshield basket and recorder zoom h4. I returned to the place i heard the nightingale and the bird was still singing. On the recording you can hear the ambient of chemical factory of honywell seelze, a street with cars sometimes, a second nightingale far away answering our nightingale near by. And some frogs. At the beginning of the recording there is also some handgrabbing noise, later i fixed the mic on the saddle of my bike and there is no longer the handgrabbing. Enjoy the beautyful singing, cheers.

Hail comes inthis was a strange storm. Tons of lightning, but only distant thunder. The rain was nearly falling vertically. Audio description: may 20, 2014. Hail comes in and pounds a deck outside for about a minute or so, then fades and raindrops themselves take prominence. The wind picks up, so you can hear wind chimes going at it and some deep rolling thunder far in the background. If you’ve experienced high winds before, it will probably sound scary to you at volume. Recorded with a tascam dr-05 with a dead cat and no low cut. I got the mics as close to an open window as i could without being ridiculous. Cropped and faded in and out in audacity. No other modifications, so you’ll have to normalize it and equalize to your liking. Might be useful as a “heavy rain” sound, since the hail kind of sounds like that anyway.

This clip was made because i was looking for a strong thunderstorm sound effect for a school play. I wasn't able to find one that was strong enough for what i wanted, so this. Mp3 was made in audacity from three other audio files from freesound - they are #s 27247, 2521, and 87472. This information is also in the 'comment' metadata of the mp3 file. As far as i can tell, this is the "strongest" storm available on freesound as of early february 2010. (i could be wrong of course!). If there is interest, i can upload an uncompressed aif of the audacity track (it'll take awhile) but i figured there was no point since 2/3rds of the files used were originally mp3's from here. There's quite a lot of air traffic (planes and helicopters) here in prague - písnice, but most of the helicopters have poor sound. First it approaches with the deep harmonic sound, then it flies by overhead with a more noisy mid-spectrum sound. Recorded on zoom h4nsp, this time with 4gb sd card which has far lower startup time than 32 gb one (like 12 secs compared to more than a minute). Besides the helicopter itself there are some birds singing, insects buzzing and some rumble from the wind (i didn't manage attach the deadcat windshield so quickly). Basic frequency: ~ 33. 87 hz. So far i've been pretty stunned by the performance of these capsules, which are significantly more sensitive than the built in microphones on the h1, and to my ears sound much less muddy. I'm particularly impressed by this because the capsules are running on the 2. 5v of plug-in power that the h1 delivers, which is below the minimum specs of the capsules. Even so there is remarkably little noise. I can only imagine how they would sound with a battery pack to deliver a full 5 volts!.

From 1:00-2:00in the sky a long way behind me and to the left, but somewhat far in the air, a group of birds are fighting above a large group of trees that are shaped like a ball of veins. Most of the birds are crows, or just black birds; each noise they make is a series of “caws” no different from each other in pitch, tone, or frequency. There's also the sound of 3 small birds directly to my right around 5 meters away from me, making loud but shrill chirping sounds. The birds are each the same size but and are hopping around the perimeter of a cactus right behind them. The wind blows onto the right side of my body and the front of my body. Waves from the ocean are crashing directly behind me, each in long sessions. The way they sound is consistent, like the sound of rain. Occasionally one of the waves will crash, increasing in volume but not in pitch or tone.

So these are all real reactions to certain things i do, i. E, video games, narrations, etc. This is from the spider incident, hence why it is far away. I myself need genuinely real vocal reactions. Ok, i don't know how many of you might be interested in this, but i figure there's no harm in posting it. I'm working on some original songs. Laptop-based, electronic songs, with many orchestral parts, including violin, viola, cello, and string bass. Presonus studio one has some very nice vst string instruments, and i have some really great ones for kontakt. But they all are missing one thing, and i couldn't find the (admittedly esoteric) sound that i'm looking for anywhere on the internet. Being a viola player myself, i recorded myself playing these very particular incidental sounds. Let me explain-. There's this 'grabby' sound that a well-rosined bow makes just is it is first being drawn across the string. Listen carefully to any of the pros and you'll hear it. In your laptop sequences, if used subtly, right at the point where the first note of a phrase is initiated, this sound can give the string part a marked sense of realism*. This, combined with vibrato, reverb and a nice warm/tube/tape saturation setting, nobody will be able to tell the difference between your vst and the real thing. About the audio-i tried to keep them as pitchless as possible, thus not limiting their utility. I recorded two sets of all four open strings (c, g, d, a), first close mic'ed, and once from a few feet away, in stereo. Or to say it another way, the sounds are as follows-1. Open c close2. Open g close3. Open d close4. Open a close5. Open c far6. Open g far7. Open d far8. Open a far. It's totally overkill for me to record all the different versions, but i suppose somebody out there might find one more appropriate than another for their purposes. They work pretty effortlessly for violin and viola, but you might have to pitch them down for cello and string bass. I added no processing whatsoever, apart from normalizing each individual sound. This is a recording of myself sleeping, beginning ~ 1:00 am local time (~ 3hrs after going to bed) on january 10th, 2020 (which i later discovered was a full moon). I was in the midst of experimenting with recording myself all night long out of curiosity, using a laptop placed near the head of my bed. This particular recording was the only anomalous one (the rest consisting mostly of just breathing or snoring with occasional sleep-talking). This ~2 hour recording has several interesting properties, which make it hard for me to believe that these sounds were actually going on while i was sleeping. On the other hand, i don't have a memory of editing this file if i did. Either way, i find it unsettling. I found the file in oct 2021 while organizing my samples. As far as i can remember, this is the original raw recording. On further inspection, i discovered that it has some additional peculiar properties that make it even harder to believe i could have made it without remembering doing so. The audio spans almost exactly 118min (7080s). There’s a frequency sweep with a cycle-length of 6480ms that repeats throughout the entire recording. Dividing the 118min by 6. 48min (60 cycles) results in 18 parts containing exactly 60 cycles and a remainder of 12 cycles.
