This is a recording of myself sleeping, beginning ~ 1:00 am local time (~ 3hrs after going to bed) on january 10th, 2020 (which i later discovered was a full moon). I was in the midst of experimenting with recording myself all night long out of curiosity, using a laptop placed near the head of my bed. This particular recording was the only anomalous one (the rest consisting mostly of just breathing or snoring with occasional sleep-talking). This ~2 hour recording has several interesting properties, which make it hard for me to believe that these sounds were actually going on while i was sleeping. On the other hand, i don't have a memory of editing this file if i did. Either way, i find it unsettling. I found the file in oct 2021 while organizing my samples. As far as i can remember, this is the original raw recording. On further inspection, i discovered that it has some additional peculiar properties that make it even harder to believe i could have made it without remembering doing so. The audio spans almost exactly 118min (7080s). There’s a frequency sweep with a cycle-length of 6480ms that repeats throughout the entire recording. Dividing the 118min by 6. 48min (60 cycles) results in 18 parts containing exactly 60 cycles and a remainder of 12 cycles. If you think you know the source of the strange sounds or if you've ever heard anything similar, please let me know in the comments or email me at storyofthelie@protonmail. Com. I collected the most interesting bits into this pack:https://freesound. Org/people/storyofthelie/packs/33653/. Broadcast made by the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich from the besieged city of Leningrad in 1941. The work he refers to here is Symphony No. 7 in C Major, opus 60, subtitled Leningrad. Transcript: An hour ago, I finished the score of two parts of a large symphonic composition. If I succeed in writing this composition well, if I succeed in completing the third and fourth parts, then it will be possible to call this composition the seventh symphony. Why do I announce this? So that the radio listeners who are listening to me now will know that the life of our city goes on as normal. We are all now doing our military duty. Soviet musicians, my dear friends and numerous brothers-in-arms, my friends! Remember that our art is now in great danger. Let us defend our music, let us work honestly and selflessly!

H.M.S. Pinafore performed with the following cast: Willie Rouse (Sir Joseph Porter, K.C.B.) Harry Dearth (Captain Corcoran/Boatswain's Mate) Walter Hyde (Ralph Rackstraw) Harry Thornton (Dick Deadeye) Alfred Cunningham (Dick Deadeye/Boatswain's Mate) W. Anderson (Carpenter's Mate) Elsa Sinclair (Josephine/Cousin Hebe) Ada Florence (Mrs. Cripps, called "Little Buttercup") Miss Burnett (Cousin Hebe) There is some disagreement about who the performers are in various parts, as explained by Mark Shepherd. Not to be confused with the Russell Hunting/Sterling selections from Pinafore dating from the same year and using some of the same performers. The performance cuts the overture, the entr'acte, "A British Tar" and part of the Act I finale. Some portions are transposed from their original keys.

Insects (i think mostly crickets) make this noise. It sounds so. . . Infernal!, or futuristic (electronic for sure). I recorded this (with my old zoom ii recorder) one summer night in tlacotlapan, at the southern mexican state of veracruz. All this happened for hours inside my hotel room. So you can imagine what kind of night i have. Wonderful memories.

Walyunga is a haven of peace and tranquility just outside of perth. It's one of my favourite hikes in the area, as it's only a couple of hours long and combines proximity to water, a bit of a climb, stunning views of perth's skyline, solitude, and gorgeous flora and fauna. This recording was done in june, 2020 using a tascam dr-05x.
