Quiet urban residential area in tokyo at about 2 am in the late summer (october, i think). You can hear far off traffic, some night insects and a drunk guy who came to close to my hidden mics to take a whiz. Excluding the peeing guy, quiet parts are perfect for looping (for ambient background sounds in video or audio works). The peeing guy might actually be useful, so i didn't cut it out. Faithfully recorded with a stereo mic pair placed at a 90 degree angle. The left-right balance was adjusted and the stereo field was expanded later to fix the lopsided sided flatness of the original recording. Other than that, the recording is unprocessed.

Japanese street ambience: cicadas, passing some cars and a bicycle, recorded with iphone at a street of hachimanyama, residential area in tokyo, 2014/08/13/day.

Lunchtime at mcdonald's in akasaka, tokyo. Office workers are having lunchtime conversations in japanese, you can hear employees scuttle around cleaning. This is a stereo recording made with 2 coincidental mics at 120゜angles.

A field recording of the japanese landscape, recorded at sakaori, yamanashi at around 6am in march. General ambience and birdsong. From around 1:30 you can hear the bells of zenkoji temple in the distance. Recorded with a zoom h4n and normalised.

This long recording was taken aboard the odoriko super view train from ito city bound for atami. You can hear the conductor's announcements, station arrivals and departures, passenger conversations (in japanese) and, of course, the train itself. The recording is unprocessed and made with a stereo mic pair at a 90 degree incidental angle.

These samples come from a gakken sx-150, a small analogue synthesizer kit that was released in japan 2008 as part of the gakken hobby magazine series. The synth became very popular also outside of japan, mainly because it's a low-cost analogue synth with a great sound that offers lots of possibilities for circuit benders.

I have recorded "uguisu", the japanese bush warbler near my house in yokohama. You can also hear a little of wind, cars and other city sounds.
