I forgot about these samples, and they were just sitting in the ftp until one day i found them. I erased the hard copies long ago, so i can't describe them. . . I suppose, as their titles say, they are pads.

A london double-decker arriving to a bus stop, stepping on board, validating oyster card. Lower deck - bus driving between stops, doors opening/closing etc, medium crowd chatter. Going to higher deck, driving a few stops - very light chatter in the background. Eventually getting off bus.

This was made with kontact and a korg ea-1, mixed with a behringer mixer with light dirt and overdrive. Sampled into an mpc. Left and right are separate channels processed differently. So each sample is actually 2 different sample, 3 if you combine them. 44. 1k, 16-bit.

A long ambient piece recorded during a california drizzle. You can hear a bike pass and then a handful of cars from street level. The rain is continuous but very light. Nonetheless, the piece is very dense.

Low e string on acoustic guitar scrape slide with pick. Increased pitch, wah-wah effect at 31. 2%, light tremolo,fade and noise reduction used. Recorded with conexant smart audio using at2020 mic, processed on audacity.

Hail and rain storm recorded in palm beach gardens florida. Used a new rode ntg5 direct to a zoom h6 recorder. Cleaned up in adobe audition. Hail is bouncing off of gutters and cars then turns to a light rain with a hint of thunder in the background.

An alarm sound effect produced from applying the dfx skidder vst effect onto a very, very slowed down recording of me whistling. It's ended up sounding uncannily like another alarm sound effect from gerry anderson's "thunderbirds" (played whenever you see those portraits with the eyes that light up).

New zealand native bellbird (korimako). Recorded on kapiti island, a bird sanctuary on the west coast of the north island, nz. Recording was made at some feeder stations set up for the native stitchbird (hihi) but it seems that the bellbird was the predominant species on the day. This is in a light forest setting with a large number of birds moving around calling.

This sample consists of noise recorded via a hondo strat electric guitar resp. The guitar's neck pickup. Throughout the sample there is a low hum. In the beginning, a mobile phone was moved in front of the pickup. The noise might have been created by the clock of the phone's cpu or the backlight of the phone. After that, one crt display is switched on resulting in a buzz. Later on, a second crt display is switched on, again resulting in a buzz followed by additional noise in higher frequencies. Then, a neon light is switched on, creating even more noise. Towards the end, again the mobile phone. . . The guitar was connected to a scott&noble ht25r amplifier which was recorded with a t. Bone sc450 condenser and a behringer ddx3216 digital console directly into ardour.

Favorite airs from The Mikado (music by Gilbert and Sullivan, 1885) was a 1914 production by Edison Records, performed by the Edison Light Opera Company. This was one of several phonograph cylinders put out by Edison Records (and, no doubt, others) that attempted to encapsulate an entire opera or musical in about four minutes generally, they consisted of a bit of the opening chorus, a verse or two from one or two of the songs, then a bit of the Act II finale. This one is not atypical. The cast is not given, but in the 1913 recording of Pinafore, also by the Edison Light Opera Company, the following singers were featured: Elizabeth Spencer, Mary Jordan, Harry Anthony, Walter Van Brunt, James F. Harrison, and William F. Hooley The only copy of the recording I had to work from was not particularly high quality, and, though I think I managed to clean it up fairly well, I had to leave some of the background noise in, or the singers start to sound unnatural since cleanup of static does, by necessity, remove some information as well. By removing clicks and pops, then blending a noise-reduced track with the one just cleaned of the clicks and pops, good results can be achieved. A deep sub kick i made using sylenth and a top kick from one of my personally made libraries. Light compression, equing, and some very slight limiting with plenty of headroom. Leave me some feedback and let me know what you think of it.

A field recording of light rain as it falls steadily in a hilly suburban area near the pacific coast highway and sea shore. The microphone was placed on a second-story window facing the street, though there was no traffic. You can hear the rain falling onto the roof, nearby pavement, trees, and ground. An unedited 1 minute sample.

Some birds (i think a bunch of crows and a hawk) fighting in a tree near my house. Recorded with a zoom h4n at 96/24. Birds were about 30 feet up in the tee and i was on the ground another 30 feet away. Some light traffic and airplane sounds low in the mix.
