I'm trying to get some character to my modular sounds. This is a sequence with a sawtooth wave mixed with noise and joined in a vca that can distort a little. It's a vca i bought used. Don't think a new vca of the same sort distortes. I really like that. I little reverb is added to the sound. The sound is analog until it reaches the reverb. Sometime i will buy a spring reverb. Promise. But here, on the internet, the sound is digital anyway.

This is a (-nother) synthetic soundscape i did some years ago, reminiscent of a wide, enclosed, dark cavern, very good for subtly underlaying film scenes playing in appropriate locations. Originally, it is a recording of me blowing on a beer-bottle, captured by a sennheiser condenser mic, and then receiving some attention by the yamaha multi-effects generator in my university back then. I still like and use it a lot today.

This is a recording of the six o'clock cicada taken near to the danum valley rain forest lodge in the primary rain forest of borneo. The 6 o'clock cicada is the loud horn type of sound that can be heard in the fist few seconds of the file. Later in the file other insects come in one sounding more like a car alarm.

This is a basic dubstep beat. It was done in reason 7. It is useful in that it shows you a good way to construct a beat. It consists of four 4-bar measures, each progressing from the previous. In this way, you can see how to write a good beat, by starting off simple and building from there. Traditional dubstep drums are very spare and sporadic with the use of symbols. Recorded myself typing on our old desktop computer's now garbage keyboard likely over a decade ago with my old nokia e66 smartphone. I then edited this recording yesterday to find out how much i would be able to improve the already decent quality. Whenever i use my usb stick, my computer always makes an awful noise. I decided to record it and see if any of you guys can make anything out of it. To me it sounds like some sort of aliens or robots talking to each other. The only editing done was noise removal to get rid of the fuzziness and amplification to make it a little bit louder. Some cafe ambience severely altered with blok modular fx. Was originally a long jam cut up into a bunch of individual files but i figured searching through them would be a pain so i merged them back into one file. So listen through and pick the sounds you like with a wav editor, or enjoy it in its own regard as abstract sound sculpture or something. I don't want to divulge too much of what the patch looked like but it random note values with each keyboard press which were then ran through a waveshaper. Later on i add some reverb and use various things to alter the panning for some strange stereo effects. Edit: you might want to use a dc eliminator on the samples because the waveshaper creates some dc offset (basically useless low/zero frequency noise for those not in the know). From 1:00-2:00in the sky a long way behind me and to the left, but somewhat far in the air, a group of birds are fighting above a large group of trees that are shaped like a ball of veins. Most of the birds are crows, or just black birds; each noise they make is a series of “caws” no different from each other in pitch, tone, or frequency. There's also the sound of 3 small birds directly to my right around 5 meters away from me, making loud but shrill chirping sounds. The birds are each the same size but and are hopping around the perimeter of a cactus right behind them. The wind blows onto the right side of my body and the front of my body. Waves from the ocean are crashing directly behind me, each in long sessions. The way they sound is consistent, like the sound of rain. Occasionally one of the waves will crash, increasing in volume but not in pitch or tone.

The clip was created using a synsonics "terminator" guitar with a built-in amp by running the output to my sound card and sound card's output going into to a secondary jack intended for headphones on the guitar. It created an interesting metallic noise, almost like a ring mod. . . There is a segment where i was poking the guitar's amp circuit board with my fingers which creates lots of grumbling/squelchy noises. . . Heavily pounding bassdrum originally made from 10 litre bottle punching sounds recorded with my fake shure c608 mic and heavily processed by adding some modulations, distortions, layering some attack and setting bass part (under 200 hz) to mono. Will be nice choice to produce hip-hop drums, or experimental techno also for making cinematic thunder-like booms.

A recording made around 5 am in early april. . . . The peaceful but yet exhilirating ambience of spring birds and crickets. There is an ocassional cricket who sounds like he literally must have been sitting point-blank in front of my microphone - a great surprise, you can literally hear his wings stridulating. Cricket stridulating(making that funny noise that crickets make) just outside my front door, spain, summer 2015. Recorded using samsung galaxy mega phablet using 'easy voice recorder' (registered version). All complaints about the sound quality must be addressed to british gas… they are used to getting strange complaint and i don't want them. You either want to use this recording, or you don't, don't bother writing to me telling me why you don't like it.

I was looking for a sound in which a few high-pitched bells could be heard together with the spinning gears of the striking mechanism. I couldn't find a sound like that, so i made my own. The two bells are from a sample user 'nemodaedalus' uploaded (wuc_bell_high_and_low. Wav). I recorded the spinning gears myself. The sound comes from a 1920's junghans clock i saved out of a dumpster. It's pretty much broken, except for the striking mechanism.

So this is my attempt in making a crowd sound effect. It really didn't sound like a people's crowd since i said "walla" too loud in some clips. There are approximately 28 clips in that sound varying from 15 to 17 seconds. Also, i combined another crowd sound effect which i created in 3ml editor and edited in both audacity and adobe audition to make it longer. All (with the exception of the earlier crowd sound effect i did) was combined in audacity.

This is a first in a series of noises from machines. I work at a company that prints and packages things like decals and parts on cars. This is the noise of the printer making some sort of thumping noise, as it was broken at the time and hadn’t gotten to be fixed. If you’re wondering what hat terrible whirring is in the background, that is the combined noise of about a dozen large machines operating as well as the ac and it’s pretty commonplace there. Sorry about that, hope you can still use the recording anyway :).

This recording was taken in the edinburgh cbd during the fringe festival in august 2022 in the early evening, around 7pm. I like it because it gives an idea of the unusual way that sounds travel in that city. I could never figure out the reason for it, but it was noticeable to me the whole time i was there. If anyone knows the reason please post it in the comments. The recording was made with the inbuilt stereo microphones of a zoom h5 portable recorder.

I bought a portable sw radio for about £2 from a local flea-market, hoping to pick up some interesting radio stations from around the world and maybe some "spy" numbers stations if i was lucky. Had a quick scan this morning and stumbled on this nice clear station, sounds russian - most likely the end of the broadcast and wrapping up with a repeated code to indicate end of transmission.

Generated 10 minutes of white noise, applied some eq and what i may call stereo expansion, and got this thing that should be good enough to be used as an ambient sound for cold weather or polar wind. Many of the sounds i have found here and elsewhere, have other noises and/or were created through other methods like blowing.

I recorded this in my living room with mics in an x-pattern on the couch very close together, using a tascam dr-70d and behringer dyynamic microphones with patch cables for optimal volume. I recorded this at maximum gain on the tascam as two stereo files, then conjoined them to a 6-channel audio file properly and mixed the front two channels to a monaural center channel for added effect. The final result is what can be downloaded here. Tghe music in the background is part of the star trek: generations expanded complete score, and is coming from my computer to the rear of the recording, which lasts just over a minute in length, and the music was just background noise for testing purposes only. No copyright infringement was intended. Credit for the music goes to the now late jerry goldsmith and also dennis mccarthy, who is still alive.
