This recording was taken from the balcony of an apartment in johor bahru malaysia on september 30th 2022 at about 1:30pm. It was monsoon season but not raining and the weather was hazy and muggy. The recording features the drone of a busy city punctuated by a whippersnipper, a building site, birds, a light aeroplane and car horns. At around the 4:30 mark there's two loud motorcycles that race each other and echo around the city in a most glorious way. The recording was made with the inbuilt stereo microphones of a zoom h5 portable recorder.

I made this field recording using gopro hero 7 black in july 2020. It was recorded during the day around lunchtime in the jungles outside of kuala lumpur at the selangor border.

A recording of a recording as it turns out. Throughout different tropical countries you can often hear this being played out of buildings quite loudly and constantly. It is the sound of swallows who are known to make valuable nests out of their saliva. This hardened saliva is quite valuable and so this recording is often used to attract swallows in to nest in buildings. This recording was made alongside a camera trap survey while at loagan bunut national park in sarawak, malaysia.
