This is a recording i made with my h4n while on exercise at meaford training centre, with an artillery unit. It features 5 mortars firing multiple rounds. In the back ground, you can hear fire orders being issued over the radio, as well as individual detachment commanders giving orders to their gunners.

Fireworks recorded amidst the buildings of an apartment complex. Lowpassed around 1khz. Slightly expanded dynamic range. I cut as many incidental noises as i could hear on my headphones (cars, neighbors, etc) but there's still some residual hum from an electrical box that was nearby as well as wind. I tried to make a friction drum by stringing a med handglove membrane to a wooden mortar. That mostly failed; i couldn’t control the pitch and make continuous sound.
