Just a simple walk down a pedestrian street. No cars allowed on this street.

The distant and peaceful sound of village life in dewe, uganda, near kampala, with crickets, wildlife, a distant drum, and occasional voices and laughter.

This recording was taken around 10. 30pm near a village called dewe in uganda. Dewe is a village in uganda about 100 yards from the shores of lake victoria. I was fortunate enough to spend a month staying with a project called the dewe school of art based in the village. I took this recording while i was alone in the project gardens at night. I have not processed or tampered with the sound in any other way than slightly amplifying the original. Surround recording on zoom h2.

Ambience of a night in december. It snowed earlier in the day, with freezing rain after. In this you can hear icy trees crackle as they sway in the wind. A block away, motorists are passing by. Some people yell out. A one-note wind chime is dinging, sometimes another wind chime sounds. Some ice falls, and various other little things happen. . . A high pitched glowing hum with sparkles.

A particular insect, maybe a grasshopper doing this sound which i use as background atoms instead of the typical cricket. Recorded stereo on zoom h4 on board mics, i edited it to remove some of the hiss.

During quarentine (march 2020), the night birds are more audible (active), because of the lack of human produced sound. Recorded from my window with a sd mixpre6 and a pair of primo 172 clippy's in ab stereo configuration (3 meters apart).

Several different species of frogs croaking and droning. Recorded with my iphone at raccoon lake near centralia, illinois at night. There is a big splash near the beginning from something in the lake, which gives it more of an air of mystery, i think.

A nice little recording done from my apartment window in bucharest during a lovely april night. A car passes, several thunders, varying in intensity and distance.

Outside my gym is a large tree or bush and every night in the summer months a swarm of sparrows invades the bush. Hundreds of birds disappear into the thick hedge for the night. The sound is unique and overwhelming. There is an sporadic wind sound but a few long sections without.
