Mixed scots pine & larch plantation with beech trees adjacent to trackway. Dry with light breeze. The murmur of the wind in the pines runs through out this recording - ebbing and flowing with the breeze. There is much woodland birdsong. Some other noises of human making can also be hear and interrupt the otherwise peaceful rural ambience. For a podcast project i needed some coffee related sounds so i recorded our techni-vorm moccamaster, filter coffee machine as it brewed a full pot. Ambient sound akin to the bridge of a starship. Muted background hum with an overtone of air conditioning ducts. Pseudo-random high pitched blips occupy the soundstage. Could be used as an ambient sound loop for hi-tech / science fiction interiors such as a laboratory, a control room, or the bridge of a spacecraft. Created with two instances of flstudio 3x osc. One kicking out a pair of sinewaves plus noise for the background susurus (hum) and ventilation sound. Second 3x osc is set to produce two interfereing square waves for the blips, squeaks and buzzes. The background was notch filtered and bandpassed to mellow out the humming sound and reduce hiss. The blips were processed with flstudio equo, stereo enhance, fruity delay2 and fl pan-o-matic vst. Each blip was pasted by hand in a seemingly random but not too unpleasant pattern.

An unintended recording of me and a passerby walking through very thick and wet mud on the walthamstow marshes. I was out testing new gear and couldn't remove the mics from my rucksack strap to avoid picking up the rustle of my clothing or my occasional heavy breathing. Another recording of rain and thunder, but in some ways a better one. This one is a surprisingly big crack and rumble preceded and followed by a nice sounding rain. I made this by positioning a stereo-matched pair of akg c451b condenser mics in an exaggerated x-y configuration (a wider stereo field) and aiming them out of my open window. The mics went into a universal audio 2-610 preamp, an apogee duet 2, and then ableton at 48khz and 24 bits. I believe i had the mics set flat, and there was no post processing (though i was mightily tempted to upload the much-better-sounding eqed and compressed files) so that you can fine tune it to suit your needs. You'll notice that the loudest parts of the thunder boom clipped the input, but, due to the pleasant and forgiving nature of vacuum tubes, the clipping sounds more compressed than distorted. Feel free to use this sound in any commercial or artistic work! you do not need to credit me.

I let the patch sound thru a pair of cheap computer speakers that i use as monitors. In an adjacent room, close to an open window, i put my phone and record. This is the unedited outcome. The recording was made 09:00 (16-05-11). Unfortunately nothing happened outside the window. Even the birds was quiet. I think there is a hint of feedback in the sound? first i planned to record with an old tape recorder, but i couldn’t find it. . . I think this recording should be listened to with low volume. May by it was a mistake to amplify the sound in audacity? but i think there is a nice room ambiance to the recording. Ideas for next time. Use guitar amp. Find old tape recorder. Don’t put recording device to close to window.

Recording of parakeets being loud in springfield park in easy london at 7:30am in november. Worth mentioning that the groan track is separate from the conversation, for those who want to use just one or the other. I hesitate to say i'm in training, but in a way i am. I don't really know what sorts of things i can get away with, so i have become acquainted with a brit who, i thought, knows everything there is to know. Instead, she may be a bit of an experimenter, and she practices a bit fast and loose. I surely can tell she loves it. . . During this bit of conversation i saw her reach and turn the clamping screws tighter. Extrusion. Interesting. One might wonder why he puts up with it, and i can tell you, he doesn't. A session like this one and he doesn't speak to me for a week. It goes on, i can tell you, at least until he finds where i keep the handcuffs. I do know where to find another pair.

I've been recording some sounds for a an upcoming project which led me to recording the underside of the lid of a salad spinner and dangling a small plastic tab on it as it spun. It wasn't my intention but it sounds a bit like an old film projector. You can get some interesting results with this clip by messing a bit with the eq which is what i'll be doing for the finished project. August, 2nd 2013. About eight and a half minutes worth of summer evening ambience, with crickets and cicadas leading the evening songs. Nothing too eventful, but a nice finish to a great day. Recorded at 48khz, 24 bit. Stereo pair of behringer c-2s (cardioid). The mics have an on-board 3-position switch, with labels "flat," "low-cut," and "-10db. " the switch was set in the -10db position (whoops!). It is unclear if this position also activates the low-cut. Additionally, a 24db/oct low-cut applied in pro-tools at 80hz to clean up a slight wind ruffle. Since it was late at night, and the rest of the family was in bed, i opened my window and placed the microphones (almost) right up against the screen. The a/c unit you can hear is directly below the window. Around the 4:45 mark, the digital thermostat hit a programming mark and kicked the air conditioner back on. Roughly one minute later, i adjusted the thermostat to turn the unit back off. Location: suburbs of atlanta. Free to use whenever and wherever! i'd be interested to hear/see where you use it!.

All recordings are me working on a piece of 25mm thick walnut timber. Listening back has made me realise that all of these tools need sharpening!! :). A recording of the peaceful mid-autumn woods here in the midwest usa. I recorded this on november 15 2022 using a sony pcm d-100. In the northern hemisphere now, days now are much shorter, and much colder. Which means all of our energetic summer warblers and other migrants have long gone south, and are no doubt lounging around in a palm tree or something just gorging on insects. Here is the midwest woods? sure the summer birds are gone, but, the beauty of this season is that now you can hear the birds that never leave us. No matter how brutal the winter is, the blue jays, the black-capped chickadees, the many species of woodpeckers and the belted kingfishers never leave. This creates a different, but beautiful soundscape in the woods. For this particular recording, since i've found through years of roaming the woods, birds have a tendancy to be near water, i placed the recorder on a creekbank about 15 feet from a shallow creek. Now of course i could have gotten closer to the creek but by now the entire woods is a carpet of leaves -- this very slow-moving creek included. Which means the leaves had accumulated on thevery still creek water itself and i was concerned if i stepped on the leaves--thinking it was solid ground underneath, i would instead be "treated" to an ice cold pair of shoes and socks!.
