Binaural recording made in the reading area of a well-known downtown denver bookstore. Various quiet sounds of human activity (and one espresso machine) lurk. Sound professionals ms-tfb-2 binaural microphone set, 12vdc battery box, sound devices mixpre-6, recorded at 24/96, normalized and downsampled to 16/44. 1 stereo in cooledit 2000.

Rain in brittany on a windy winter day. I built this sound by mixing several field recordings made on the same spot: a small wood in the south of the region. These recordings had different focuses: some were more wind-oriented, others had more rain. . . Instead of publishing these individual takes, i chose to mix them in order to create a soundscape that would vary in density, depth and spacing. Recorded with a zoom h2n in x/y stereo mode. Mixed in nuendo 2. Mastered in sound forge 8.

An extactor hood starting to work, running for a couple of seconds and stops. I decided to not record the switch on, switch off because it didn't "sound right" to me. After spending a weekend putting together a giant wardrobe (from everyones favourite swedish furniture store) for my girlfriend i thought i should reward myself by making some recordings of it. This is a close mic recording of the sliding door, i followed the top of the door (where there was the most interesting sound) the full length of the wardrobe as i opened/closed the door. For this recording i used my sennheiser mkh416 going into a sound devices mp-1 preamp and recorded to a tascam dr-680.

Night-time wide angle stereo recording of manhattan, as heard from across the east river, the recorder was kindly allowed access to the veranda of the riverview restaurant & lounge in long island city and is facing the manhattan skyline. Some noises of the restaurant can be heard in the background, very subdued, the quiet lapping of the east river can be heard in the foreground, and manhattan bustle and traffic on the fdr drive is in the wide range. Recorded in march 2012 with a zoom h2, mics set to 90° dispersion.

Douzens of frogs within a ditch at dusk end of may 2013, giving an evening concert. Recorded in moorende 25 km apart from hamburg. The ditch is a part of the old watering system of the huge apple plantages of the altes land. Recorded with a tascam dr-100 with its implememented stereo cardioids, 44,1 khz, 16 bit stereo. Fortunately and unusually nearly no wind during the recording and only one motorbike passing at the small road beneath - which i was able to cut off unnoticable.

Wide-angle soundscape of trovill beach on the swedish island of sandhamn on the eastern outskirts of the stockholm archipelago. It is a partly cloudy, windy day and a fair amount of people are at the beach, few are bathing. Some boats and ships pass by in the mid distance. The recorder is situated in a small wood some 40m or so from the shore, facing the beach and capturing a wide angle. Recorded with a zoom h2n. These are the rear channels of a 4ch surround recording. Mics set to 120° dispersion.
