I picked up a home-grade reel to reel machine at a thrift store and and this is the tape which was in it. A father sends messages from home to his son in the u. S. Navy during the vietnam war, including fatherly advice about cars and shopping overseas and anxiously awaiting his sons return. He provides sample fodder at 14:19 about musical gear lust and otherwise provides an insight to the times. As no parties in this recording are explicitly identified, and while i did not record this, i am the de facto owner of the recording at this point and think it best to preserve it by posting it here as cc0. 180hz notchfilter(60x3)otherwise untouched.

My contribution to the freesouond collaborative performance of gyorgi ligeti's "poème symphonique for 100 metronomes". The metronome is marked "wittner" and "made in w. Germany". It ran for a little over 13 minutes at about 140. 7 bpm. Recorded on the hardwood floor of my bedroom, with the mic in front about 30 cm away. Equipment used: oktava mk102 mic, art digital mpa preamp, m-audio audiophile card. This sample is completely unprocessed. It looks limited or clipped, but i can't hear it - must be from the tube preamp (i had the gain cranked way up). It's pretty quiet, but if you listen carefully you may hear some noises in the background, especially near the beginning where i leave the room.

Stereo recording made in the generator hall of tate modern between exhibitions. The end of the hall furthest from the entrance was empty, so i ran the recorder for a couple of minutes just to sample the reverberation. Because it is a school holiday in the uk, there were large numbers of children in the gallery, especially on the upper deck bridge about 25m from the recorder, and their voices are higher pitched and their behaviour extrovert. The space is large, so the echoes give a lot of atmosphere. Recorded on zoom h2. Transferred to audacity and high pass filter with breakpoint of 180hz used (12db/octave) to remove the hum that is prevalent at this site. +6db of amplification used, so peaks at -18dbfs.

This is a simple sequence with chords - emaj, d#m and c#maj where i played on my midi keyboard "novation lanchkey mini" with using arturia vintage collection vst plugin - yamaha dx7, type - electronic organ and adding delay effect and reverberation. Sound like synth-wave or retro-wave stile, moderato, quietly and gently. Lounge. You can be using it for your needs, podcasts, samples, different projects, or just like alarm sound on your phone. This is a short, dissonant loop made with a neapolitan mandolin. This has been recorded with an sm7b into a rme interface, and quantized to 148bpm in logic pro x. This is a dry file with no other processing. I used it on a couple of old-school hip-hop beats to trigger effects or completely butchering with distortion for some extra textures. I thought it might come in handy to rap producers out there! if you do something with it, i would love to check it out!. I was recording an acoustic version of a song called "closer" by my band dead rituals, and a friend let me borrow this old neapolitan mandolin. I made some random noises by picking behind the strings at the end of a take, and i decided to sample it!.

Bi-drum finale. This sound provides an impact point, an action conclusion suggestion. I combined two drum sound samples, one of the impact with a deep echo, and one a hollow wood tube strike against a hard object to a certain rhythm. The sound is somewhat like the primal drum sounds used in survivor. I used magix music maker, magix software gmbh (www. Magix. Com) with two object plug-ins; solar wood 6_ogg_001. Snippets from recordings of me playing the tanpura. The strings are tuned to b, d, g and e, so would work well in the keys of g or e minor. I noticed that my first pack of tanpura samples has a bit of fuzzy white noise so in this pack i have equalized - i reduced all the very high frequencies which got rid of most of the white noise without affecting the low frequency sounds of the tanpura itself. Please note this is the tanpura part of an instrument called the swar sangam which combines the swarmandal (indian harp) and the tanpura, it is not a traditional tanpura and does sound slightly different.

Sound of balinese chimes recorded with tascam dr-60 d mkii linear recorder and pair of akg p120 electret condenser microphones on a stagg smc3 3m xlr cable. Knobs of sensitivity were turned in position of highest sensitivity. Microphones were configured as stereo pair and placed face to face in front of each other in distance of 75cm. Microphones placed on stands. Chimes was held in the hand between mics along the way of sight of them, with smallest bell on the side of right microphone. Recorded afternoon in a bedroom with closed door and windows in a house next to high street. Recorded in 96khz and 24bit. Trimmed and normalized in flstudio edison. Normalization made sample 32bit.

Bought an old sony walkman from an antique mall. It was advertised as "radio works, but cassette player does not play. " this was true, and i was surprised at the noises it made when you tried to play tapes, though whether or not you have a tape or not it makes these types of noises when you switch it to the metal/chrome setting with dolby b on. You can add a 60 hertz hum if you touch any of the metal parts, and can somewhat mess the sound by messing with the spindles as they move. I may upload some more samples of this at one point, with cleaner recording of each of the sounds you can create.

This is a percussion beats made at tempo 124. It spans 8 bars and is ready to be looped in your daw. This is a sound i've found in my old foxdot projects, it has a really cool "ocean" or "wave" noise-like sound that repeats at the right then left of stereo, in the end of each 4-bar segement. A soft and subtle, unedited sound recording from my studio in leeds. On the top floor of my terraced house, i have a large window that opens out onto a quiet street in north leeds. A school is nearby, so there are some elements of children screaming, but overall you get a nice wash of bird song, quiet car sounds and mild wind. This recording would be excellent for atmospheric sound for film, tv or whatever else. Feel free to use this sample and contact me if you want some extended recordings as i'm planning on recording a few more field studies from my area, which is lovely and removed from the main city.

A request for freesounder neilreynolds1980, intended as a soundtrack for the play dr faustus at the point the eponymous character is sucked into hell. A bit of technical information: the basic sound is a stacked set of ‘devil’s intervals’ (augmented fourths) with doubling at the octave, playing an instance of calf organ set to a truly horrifying demonic choir patch i created. The rest of the effects are accomplished using automation of this instrument as well as calf pulsator and calf filter in ardour. This sounds much better when downloaded than it does in the freesound player. The stereo image and sample rate are much reduced in the version you hear in the player.

On many days i take a two mile walk from my house to my job. One gorgeous day i took my zoom h1 and sampled audio at various points during this walk. To avoid footsteps, i recorded each location standing still. In this file i gradually crossfade between the different locations. The walk begins on a suburban street, goes past a park where children are playing baseball, then a busy intersection, then a factory with open windows. A couple planes can be heard overhead. The last thing in the recording is the door of my job opening. ----recorded with internal microphones of a zoom h1.

It's a recording of me taking some vitamin pills (3xrutinoscorbin). You can hear me taking the box, opening it, pulling out the blister, poping out the pills, putting the blister back into the box, closing the box, throwing it away, taking the pills into my mouth, taking a glass of water, dringing water, swallowing pills, putting the glass on the table, and breathing out. There is much background noise, bu it's static and i leaved a clear sample so you can denoise this. Recorded with a zoom h2 into ardour daw. Originally 4800khz/16-bit wav. Converted to flac with ardour.

Wrote/recorded a free dance tune at 100bpm using ableton live 9. Basic 4 chord song structure (a, e, g, d). Synth and synth sounds are a combination of ableton stock plugins (bass groove, might as well synth brass, celestial pad) and free online synth vsts (dexed, synth1 vst). This is the sound of a spaceship's underbelly cargo hatch closing mid-flight after receiving a cargo transfer. The sequence begins with a warning alarm indicating the hatch closing, followed by the sound of the giant servos rotating the dual bay doors up and inward until the bay is sealed shut and locked. An all clear signal is given, reverberating into the dark, silent chamber. Made in logic pro, completely synthesized with es2 and mac's built in speech synthesis for vocal alarm. During my exchange semester i took a class called "sound and electronics in theater". We had to do an editing project where i had to make a 30 second sample of the sentence “a large monster charged a whole group of people.
