I was digitalising one old vinyl recording. I decided to cut out some interesting noises. This is an edited recording consisting of several pieces. Edit it to your needs. The recording was done with a zoom h2 from a stereo line.

The sound of a homemade uncoated piezo-contact mic being rubbed against a giant fan. Sounds kind of creepy and weird, and the rubber around the edge of the mic caused it to bounce and make a bouncy kind of sound. Neat! zoom h4n.

I designed this sound from scratch using a 20 millisecond pop of audio looped and processed heavily using ableton live's sampler instrument. The loop is 2 bars long, but it this sample file i trail off for quite a few seconds sustaining the note to show off the sustain processing on the synth.

Lighter sounds captured for the mct - physical computing subject. It was capture with a small speaker as the input, capturing the sound of an empty lighter. The small speaker was plugged by alligator clamps in a 9v battery. After that i've processed the sounds a bit with a pinch of reverb, delay and some compression.

White noise fades in to climax with slight reverb at end. Atmospheric - an unsettling transition or sudden ending. Generated with audacity on a mac - 16-bit wav. I made this from scratch very quickly (after hours of searching for just the right sound!).

This is a reverse ricochet accent i made from scratch. I took the classic “h-b cartoon ricco” and modified it to make it look like an approaching bullet is coming to shoot a glass object or hit a hard surface. You can use this sound however you want. Just give me credit!.

Unwilling to to back and re-record the mix, i batted the needle around on the record for half a second and stopped the tape. This is the part that isn't recognizable as "hey, st. Peter!".

They're made using a little wavetable-based synth which i built from scratch; the wavetable contains 32 home-grown waveforms, and the synth's parameters and effects are controlled by a bank of 16 sequencers. This is a precise emulation of the audible time signal broadcast by radio station wwv of the nist in the usa on shortwave. This recording was produced via a program i wrote that emulates the time signal and recreates it from scratch, but it conforms precisely to the specs of the real signal. The only part missing is the voice announcement of the time, which, in the real broadcast, is made during the last fifteen seconds of each minute (which is why the tone changes to just clicks during that time). There are two minutes in the recording, but it should be easy to loop it or otherwise modify it for other durations. Since this audio file was computer-generated from scratch, it contains no noise, but the real broadcast has some static and noise, especially at large distances from the transmitter in colorado.
