I put this as the ringtone for members of my family whose phone calls i cannot ignore. It was created using the ringtone generator on a nokia 3620 mobile phone.

Sound created from using the rings of saturn as a spectral source to a series of filters. When a 1 pixel high image of the rings is extracted it looks like a spectrogram (original: https://en. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/file:saturn%27s_rings_dark_side_mosaic. Jpg). The ring spectrogram was divided into three color planes, and the color intensity values were transformed into resonant filter cutoff frequencies. In essence one filter unit (per color plane) has 256 sounds playing simultaneously. The individual filters are placed along the x-axis so, that the stereo image consists of 256 steps from left to right. In this sound of the series the spectrum was compressed to a range of 20 - 1000 hz. A small variation in certain divider factor per color plane is introduced for a slight chorus like effect.

These samples come from a gakken sx-150, a small analogue synthesizer kit that was released in japan 2008 as part of the gakken hobby magazine series. The synth became very popular also outside of japan, mainly because it's a low-cost analogue synth with a great sound that offers lots of possibilities for circuit benders.

Stereo hydrophone recording of a small croatian harbor basin. Hydrophones submerged by approx. 1m, next to the bounding wall of the basin, facing the open sea. One of a series of heavily processed sounds of me ripping various objects off a sticky surface. I ran the original recordings through s-layer, the sample-mangling plugin from twisted tools, layering and sculpting the sounds into short impulses that are suitable for ui sound design.

To make this series of sounds, i blended a bunch of samples together, some recorded on my go-to usb mic, some synthesized in ableton. I thought they fit together nicely vs being isolated pieces. This sample is part of my halloween 2021 pack. As with all my previous uploads to freesound, this sample is dedicated to the public domain. Enjoy!.

It's a long, organic and haunting two-tone call echoing in the forest night; a clear alternative to the mechanical and tightly musical ringtones out there, and one i like a lot. Edited to wrap nicely for a continuing repeat.

The original source for stretchdrone01. Aiff. Made back in 1980 on an octave/cat synthesizer and recorded to cassette. It's from a series of work tapes that i and my friend stephen mackay made under the "band" name late capitalism. The title for this one was "a five year contract with disney".
