Regular silent night at my village in august. A lot of crickets, and far dog's barks.

My coutry issued a nationwide lockdown after 9pm, so i decided to record the silent streets since you rarely get this quiet of an atmosphere in the middle of a city :).

This is a recording made in the kitchen of my apartment where i am rehearsing an old sankyo music box with the song silent night. This recording was made with my iphone connected to the shure mv88 plus digital stereo microphone.

About 15 seconds from a music-box right after winding it up all the way, so the notes are faster and a bit crisper then in my other samples. The melody is somewhat blurred due to the item's age, but it sounds like silent night.

This sound is piece of night atmosphere i recorded years ago with reel-to-reel nagra4 and mkh416. You can hear night ambience of large hangar with lot of silent insects flying directly to electronic trap light and burn in very close detail. Another detail sound comes from hiting the metal body of film light.

Here you can listen to a bike, then a car, by night, on the same straight desert wet road. Note the differences of the sound duration and the sound volume. The night is quite silent, only some discreet water drops. The road is wet. Same mic position (10m high in a metelilic structure 10m from the road), same record level. Field recording of a person who walks inside a living room and closes the slide door. You can slightly feel the transition from exterior to interior reverberant space. I really liked the texture/character of her shoes/pants.

Recorded this while going to the loo in a camping trip. The door was pretty creaky so i decided to record it because it could be a good sound effect. Of course i didn't have any equipment with me so the sound was recorded on my phone, which is why it's a bit echoey and shabby. Feel free to use however you please, you don't even need to credit me! :).

I live on a lake and this is what my back patio sounds like every night. They live in the branches of the weeping willow trees that dip down to the water. The sound starts with one frog, then a few join in, and soon there as a chorus of them on all ends of the lake in all tempos going at once. Then when a crescendo is reached, they all start to stop one by one until it's silent again. But the silence only lasts for minute, and then the cycle repeats. I don't know if it's some huge frog mating ritual, or family reunion.
