This is a recording made on the morning of march 25, 2012 in greensboro, north carolina, usa, featuring a thunderstorm and plenty of birdsong. I recorded this as i thought it was a pretty interesting contrast at the time. This recording was made with an olympus ls100 and it's internal microphones behind a window screen.

One morning i was walking my dog it was very windy. I heard a tree that had fallen several years ago, make a squeeky sound towards another tree. I used the sound on old footage on a wooden-boat.

Hail comes inthis was a strange storm. Tons of lightning, but only distant thunder. The rain was nearly falling vertically. Audio description: may 20, 2014. Hail comes in and pounds a deck outside for about a minute or so, then fades and raindrops themselves take prominence. The wind picks up, so you can hear wind chimes going at it and some deep rolling thunder far in the background. If you’ve experienced high winds before, it will probably sound scary to you at volume. Recorded with a tascam dr-05 with a dead cat and no low cut. I got the mics as close to an open window as i could without being ridiculous. Cropped and faded in and out in audacity. No other modifications, so you’ll have to normalize it and equalize to your liking. Might be useful as a “heavy rain” sound, since the hail kind of sounds like that anyway.

Thunder sound synthesized from a randomly generated tone, and processed (in audacity) with: multivoice chorus, harmonic sythesizer, tons of gverb, 2-second delay, and fade-in/fade-out where appropriate. July 24, 2011 was a historic day in japan. After almost 60 years, tv analog signals were terminated. I just can't believe it. My tube now shows nothing but sand storm. All tv signals were switched to digital. The last vital sign was sent from nhk, and stopped. Recorded with marantz pmd661 and at835st.

Field recording of diamond lake a few hours before a storm hit that forced all boats to dock. This is in late may of 2022. On a hike at the north end of the lake, i stood at the edge of the water and held my recorder close to the growing waves.

I believe this was recorded with a sound devices 702 and a neumann rsm 191 stereo shotgun in a concrete stairwell. You can hear the rain hitting the stairs and going down the drain. It's also hitting some junk at the top of the stairs. There are big thunder claps and more distant rumbles.

Captured on my zoom h4n. I open the door and the wind noise get louder. Around :50 it really starts to gust. There is a dog bark in the distance around 1:12. There is a little mic rumble throughout. I had it covered with a windshield and was standing just inside the door frame to try to prevent additional rumble. No need to credit. Use it as you would like.

Some of the rain drop sounds are sharp off of metal, some is just lightly hitting the ground. Some nearby trees blowing add to some of the ambiance.

Imagine you are in a creaky old house during a thunderstorm. The old grandfather clock ticking away, a couple of cats somewhere in the house and no reception from an old black and white television or radio but your nice and cosy in front of a crackling log fire.

It was quite windy and the rain hit the windows really hard. The wind tinkled the lamp. I recorded this sound by positioning a rode nt1 a few decimeters away from the lamp. You can hear some talking in the background. Recommended audio edit: low cut at 30 hz and soft high cut (6db/oct)starting at 1. 5khz.

The wind and rain is whipping the plastic coverings of a construction site at one house, some things fall down from the scaffold. The rain becomes more and more heavy and loud, the raindrops beat down on the leaves of a chestnut tree and the plastic sheets. This caught my attention as an unfamiliar sound, and i actually had to investigate to learn what it was. It was the raindrops hitting some styrofoam bodyboards near a swimming pool, which at times sounded almost more like a hollow "pop" than a "drip. ". If you were listening and wondering, the direct sound of the thunder is somewhat occluded as i believe the storm was behind the overhanging roof and house from the perspective of the microphone array. The mountainous terrain and other objects in the field reflected some of that thunderclap, as well as the exterior wall of the home, and so this is all a little bit funky. Recorded during the heatwave that the uk endured in 2022 this was a recording made from the garden on august 25th. The recording starts with gentle rain which slowly becomes heavier. Around 25 minutes the first distant rumble can be heard. From 30 minutes onwards. The soothing sounds of thunder and heavy rain. From an hour on the storm moves away and the rain eases.
