I produced this strangely satisfying sound by dropping a watermelon-shaped canning tomato into a dishpan full of water. Have to get that just about right to get this result. For my purposes i needed to repeat it, but you can do that. It's unlikely that two objects tossed into liquid will sound exactly the same, but it's possible to modify one of the two "ploops" by changing amplification, pitch and even to shorten the waveform to make them sound different. If you need that done let me know.

Recorded on a canon d550 camera. I live near a water tower built into a hill and firework displays cause a strange echo as the shock wave passes through. Listen to the first burst of bangs and there is a faint sound of "gravel falling into water". I suppose the frequency of the explosion is reverberating in the air gap in the water tower. There is a second burst of fireworks which are far away. Traffic from the a3 road is audible.

This emulates the ambient noise of a planet sized computer and its associated gargantuan processes. I aimed for a "what if" scenario. What if v'ger could speak to other similar artificial entities of enormous size and complexity. Originally recorded on zoom h2. The sound was originally a styrofoam take-out container which i pressed down on and released several times. I then filtered it.

The upload spree continues! this time i've got another sci-fi sound. The title says it all, folks. It can also be used for not only a robot malfunction sound effect, but a machine glitching sound perhaps. I made ti with a corrupt audio file. I got a part of it, and simply pitch shifted it down, and faded it out at the end.

Channeling the /dev/sda1 hard drive partition into a file. At last i've imported the raw file properly as the 8-bit unsigned linear pcm. This is 8bit mono 44100 hz windows wave. Lots of strange digital sounds. Quite useful for noise and experimental musicians. Interesting that if we just do cat /dev/sda1 > /dev/dsp we hear different sound more like modem 56k. Some kind of tardis-esque machinery humming away, ready to project the adventurer into outer space. Would be useful as a sound effect for a video involving strange futuristic machinery. No effects have been put on it to aid this. This was created with my eurorack, the main component is a waldorf wavetable oscillator nw-1 module, put through an a-127 triple voltage controlled resonance filter and a a-188-2 tapped bdd delay. The filter and oscillator are modulated in sync by an a-145 lfo.

Arpeggios in bm key : bm, am5b, g, f#7. Played on acoustic nylon guitar. Melancholic / sad feeling, the second chord has a dissonant flat dominant to give a hint of strangeness to the phrase. Sound capture using internal guitar electronics (godin multiac grand concert duet). Recording device is a tascam gt-r1. Initial sound was stereo with left and light sides 180 degrees out of phase. While recording narration on my blue yeti microphone, the cable came loose in just such a way that it started glitching and converted everything i said into weird techno music. In the radio drama big data, it was used to represent the end of the internet. You are free to use it in any way you like, but it would be super funny if you credit it to "broke yeti" as though that is a real band and help me confuse people.

I've been looking for a similar effect for quite a few years and no one has built one. So, using a simple synth and bass drop worked wonders for what i needed. The sound effect is from the matrix and is the sound heard near the beginning when the police are attempting to arrest trinity, just before the agents get upstairs.
