Lots of bangs, bongs, clangs and you-name-it-whats. Yesternight our theatrical trouppe had been disassembling the set; main part of it is a huge, multi-ton construction consisting of several dozens (or hundreds?) steel tubes - it looks like erecting scaffolding, but much more steady. Disassembling it is a chore even if you have 25+ people around. I have recorded the later stage: clanging tubes are dragged to the hoister in order to be brought down to the ground level and loaded into a truck. Speech is cut off (hopefully all of it). Have a good use of it.

I made changes in the impulse response of the fisher k-10, i used a demo of the fisher spacexpander on youtube that had a warmer sound, i did eq match using small sections of the video where the audio is dry or wet, i did this sin several times and the result was fantastically similar. Using a finger and a small blackroll tube, i recorded a few plopps with a rode nt-usb mini and the rode podcast recording software. Noise gate and compression were turned on at the time of recordings. For me, it sounds a little bit like a cork popping from a bottle, but it has a richer sound, somewhat overdoing it. . . Good for sfx though.

Recording of water running down the bathtub drain after the bathorganic rhythms are emerging out of one another as the water is whirling down and getting less in volume as the whirl changes in speed and volume and resonance with the metal tub and the drain tuberecorded with a stereo microphone on minidisc the microphone left dangling and turning over the water to create random panning.

This is a recording made just outside my window. A helicopter flew over just a minute later, twice! i used a cheap large diaphragm condensor mic, with a plastic bendable tube around it, pointing just outside of my window. This created a cool midrangy-resonant-combfilter kind of sound. Gear used: cheap ldc -> m-audio dmp3 -> terratec ewx2496. This is for the earthfirewindwater contest. It is a 2:08 minute long, stereo 24/44 wave file.

This is taken from (and an answer to) mxsmanic's "trip on métro line 9 in paris, france", at 2:20 exactly: metro on rails through the tunnel, which resonance creates this sound (very familiar to me as i live here). Interesting to notice that the sound's frequency stays around 483hz, which was (in the ancient solfeggio frequency science attributed to pythagoras) the frequency of "opening consciousness".

A recording of my bathroom ventilation fan shutters clicking in the breeze. The fan is not on so you can hear birds in the distance, and the wind in the tube-shaped fan chamber. When the wind blows it catches the plastic shutters and they rattle and click. Recorded very close to the fan with two dynamic microphones, there is virtually no bathroom ambience detectable. I'd be intrerested to know what this could be used for!.

Noises from an old gdr tube radio (1966, oberon) when tuning through mw, lw and ukw bands. I tried to separate the different noises and let them be heard for a few seconds so you can edit the noises you need. First there's lw, then mw then a few noises from buttons on the radio then ukw at the end with fragments of some german radio stations in 2021.

While creating an ambient haunted house track, i created 4 slightly different versions of a grandfather clock chime by layering tube bells, hand bells, and a vibraphone at varying dynamics and articulations in musescore 2. 0. The chime rings at a b2. I obviously had a clock in mind when creating these sounds, but you could also use this as a singing bowl, a bell or gong, or as any number of sound effects.

A classic movie punch sound recreated by hitting a leather car seat with a cricket bat. Recorded using a rode k2 tube mic and a schoeps cmc6, driving the preamps hard and compressing the input, then heavily compressing a number of takes using analog-emulation plugins (including a fairchild 660) and running the mix through waves maxxbass. Then limiting some more and finally adding the swoosh of a riding crop and a non-linear reverb noise tail.

I have no control over that. )saw this on you tube for guitar and recorded with my epiphone sg through the walrus slo pedal on the dream setting and into the focusrite 2i2 interface into reaper. An sennheiserme66 and me67 on opposite channels, i don't remember which was which(sorry). . But i could tell no real difference during recording (samecapsule, different tube). The mics were near coincident next to canarycage, though shure fp24 and tascam hdp1. Original at 24 bit 96k, down converted to 16 bit 48k. It took allot of intimidation to get the stinking birds to sing. . I threatened violence, finally when alanis morsette played, they gave it up. Otherwise birds would have died (though that may have been an interesting recording too). .

A sound i made in audacity, basicly a chirp going down from about 500 hz to 20 hz (with a fade-out to limit subwoofer use)and added some ambience by using white noise rumble on the background, also added a slight wah-wah as you might notice. Feel free to use it in a project as long as you give 'olaf gillot' credit. And of course 'freesound. Org' for having such an awesome website, with free hosting stuff :d!.

This is a recording i made for one of my songs. I found it nice to run the group's output through the ohmforce ohmicide and have some fun with the separate bands. The original loop consists of me, drumming on my metal kitchen-sink with drum-brushes. The snary accents are the brushes on the back of my acoustic guitar. All recorded with a neumann u87 and mangled through a ua solo610 with tube-gain cranked up. The bassdrumsound is also an handplayed sound from my nord lead. All recorded in 48/16.

The sound of water free falling off the edge of a flat roof. I opened the apartment balcony door and started recording. The fourth floor apartment is on the corner. The water was draining off the flat roof over the edge and falling directly from the roof to the ground. The recording equipment is a studio quality apex 460 multi pattern tube condensor microphone. It was located to avoid getting wet (!) and was about 90 degrees and six feet away from the sound source, just set in a few feet from the open balcony door.

Dont ask why this is named like that lol, made using a lot of layers but the fundamental of the snare is synthesized, distorted the first miliseconds of the sample to make an snappy transient and make it cut throught the mix. For the process i used analog modelled plugins such as exciters, tube saturators, preamps, coloring eqs, and compressors alongside with some digital modelled plugins such as camelcrusher, transient shaper and sliceeq both by kilohearts, the compressor mjucjr ny klanghelm to amplify the waveform of the sample and finally a clipshifter plugin, which i love it, to limit the snare aggresively.

My contribution to the freesouond collaborative performance of gyorgi ligeti's "poème symphonique for 100 metronomes". The metronome is marked "wittner" and "made in w. Germany". It ran for a little over 13 minutes at about 140. 7 bpm. Recorded on the hardwood floor of my bedroom, with the mic in front about 30 cm away. Equipment used: oktava mk102 mic, art digital mpa preamp, m-audio audiophile card. This sample is completely unprocessed. It looks limited or clipped, but i can't hear it - must be from the tube preamp (i had the gain cranked way up). It's pretty quiet, but if you listen carefully you may hear some noises in the background, especially near the beginning where i leave the room.

An ambient, white noise wall of sound recorded as i walked through our well ventilated university print shop. You can hear a variety of machine noises that layer to create a constant hum, with a swelling rise and fall like occasional waves. Some of the vents whistle, some tick or click and purr. Near the very end, there is a single sharp click. The ventilation system is an anti-fume tube series used for printmaking. Recorded on a microtrack ii. General information: recorded indoors on handheld microtrack while walking from room to room. No noticeable footstep sounds. No voices. Room has high ceilings and cement floors.

A little thing i came up with while doing some research on how j macis writes music. Found out he puts a capo on the second fret and by doing that this japanese pop chord progression i learned by watching a video marty friedman did on japanese style guitar improv was sounding a lot better than without one. This is free to use but if you do use it maybe throw my name on there, or at least show me what you did!. Recorded with a shitty usb mic i got for 20$ against an orange crush 20rt, effects used were a blues driver and a tube screamer.

These are two guitar solo outtakes from a guest guitar session i was asked to be on. They essentially wanted that early era slayer vibe where there is more cacophonous noise than structure. I think i recorded 15-20 for two sections in one song. They chose two other files and this was the one i liked best to keep as a memento. I am the creator and owner of the audio contained within the file. I know guitarists these days want to sound like an andy sneap plugin, but this may give someone a different idea. Within the context of the song they were for they fit well. I'm not apologizing for the playing or quality of the recording. Just something i did for a friend that took me 4x as long to set up than total time under the red light. It was fun.

Ok, i don't know how many of you might be interested in this, but i figure there's no harm in posting it. I'm working on some original songs. Laptop-based, electronic songs, with many orchestral parts, including violin, viola, cello, and string bass. Presonus studio one has some very nice vst string instruments, and i have some really great ones for kontakt. But they all are missing one thing, and i couldn't find the (admittedly esoteric) sound that i'm looking for anywhere on the internet. Being a viola player myself, i recorded myself playing these very particular incidental sounds. Let me explain-. There's this 'grabby' sound that a well-rosined bow makes just is it is first being drawn across the string. Listen carefully to any of the pros and you'll hear it. In your laptop sequences, if used subtly, right at the point where the first note of a phrase is initiated, this sound can give the string part a marked sense of realism*. This, combined with vibrato, reverb and a nice warm/tube/tape saturation setting, nobody will be able to tell the difference between your vst and the real thing. About the audio-i tried to keep them as pitchless as possible, thus not limiting their utility. I recorded two sets of all four open strings (c, g, d, a), first close mic'ed, and once from a few feet away, in stereo. Or to say it another way, the sounds are as follows-1. Open c close2. Open g close3. Open d close4. Open a close5. Open c far6. Open g far7. Open d far8. Open a far. It's totally overkill for me to record all the different versions, but i suppose somebody out there might find one more appropriate than another for their purposes. They work pretty effortlessly for violin and viola, but you might have to pitch them down for cello and string bass. I added no processing whatsoever, apart from normalizing each individual sound. Aiff, recorded at 44/16. Nady scm-2090 stereo condenser mic, focusrite saffire pro 24 interface, recorded in logic. Not the quietest room, but these sounds will be so far down in the mix that it won't matter. Free for all to download, no attribution necessary. Http://www. Freesound. Org/people/bruce%20burbank/sounds/220917/. As an example, here's the part i'm working on that motivated me to record these sounds, with the grabby sound in place. See if you can spot the three times i used it. *pro tip- much the same way i'll insert an inhale breath right before horn or oboe phrases.

A synthetic bass multisample. I created it using the virsyn cube additive synthesizer (vsti). I applied some eq using the sonalksis sv-517 equalizer plugin. The sound was compressed by the sonalksis sv-315 and nomad factory blue tubes cp2s compressor plugins. All great quality plugs. The sound is a nice but rather static emulation of a bass guitar. Created by divkid for use in the make noise soundhack morphagene. There are dry-only, fx-only, and mix versions of this reel in the pack. See it in action at https://youtu. Be/rk4ufmfcouc. Patch walkthrough. The patch starts with the qu-bit chance providing discrete random values (sample and hold) going into an instruo harmonaig. This takes the stepped random voltages and quantizing them to a given scale. I put in the notes c d eb f g ab bb which is a c natural minor scale, the relative minor of eb major (for anyone that's curious). However like most of my modular work i didn't actually tune the oscillators to anything specific. So treat the scale as a pattern of intervals not a set of specific notes. The quantized notes then form 4 voice chords giving us a root, third, fifth and seventh cv output that will be diatonic following the scale pattern, meaning the third will be major or minor, the seventh major, minor or dominant and the fifth natural or diminshed to suit the scale. With the 4 quantized outputs on the harmonaig these all go into the four oscillators on the synthesis technology e370 quad morphing vco. Each of the e370 oscillators are in the basic morph xy mode using the built in rom b set of wavetables. Wavetables are modulating by various mixes of the befaco rampage, mutable instruments tides, wmd multimode envelopes and music thing modular turing machine. The modulation sources are mixed and split with multiples and mixers. These modulating wavetables then go into a bubblesound vca4p where i'm using 4 mk1 intellijel dixie oscillators all un-synced and free running with sine wave lfos. Each lfo freely fades the voice in and out of the vca4p. As this is unsynced there's no regard to pitch changes linked to changes in amplitude and the swells. I find splitting the gate/rhythm from pitch regarding sequencing to be a freeing and interesting way to work that's not available on traditional instruments. This is just a simple application of that idea with the lfos fading freely unrelated to the other modulation or sequencing of pitch. The sound then goes from the vca4p mix out into a befaco mixer and praxis snake charmer which the output section of the larger case and i'm sending a 'pre' auxiliary out into my fx case. The dry sound first goes into the erica synths fusion delay / flanger vintage ensemble which is giving me short modulated delays giving vibrato like sounds and pushing the input level and overdrive gives us some warmth and grit that thickens up the sound and also fills in the gaps left by the free running lfos pulling quieter sounds and compressing in the on board tube. This then outputs to the feedback 1 bit multitap delay module which has it's delay chip pushed to longer times for some added crackle and noise. I'm using the two delay taps for a shorter and longer delay with little feedback to mix the dry sound for a generally noisier and smeared version of the input. This then goes into the xaoc devices kamieniec with it's on board lfo as slow as possibly for a mildly resonant phase shifting. This goes into mutable instruments clouds set to sew random grains slowly and randomly which are pitch shifted up 2 octaves to fill out some high end flourishes against the closed chord voicings at the core of the patch. Finally this goes into a long lush reverb from the halls of valhalla card in the tiptop audio z-dsp. The stereo fx chain and the mono dry signal are mixed in the befaco hexmix and recorded as a mixed stereo file. I'd consider this to be the main 'reel'. However i split the dry signal and the fx only wet stereo signal and recorded those at the same time so you can choose which reel to use and experiment with dry/wet or blended sounds from this patch.

These short files are random selections from a 9min composite audio file i put together from an accidental recording made when i left my sony camcorder on in my studio. They are part of the same series posted elsewhere on thefreesoundproject site titled "accidental recordist". There is some hiss/background noise which is part of the street front urban scene of my studio. There are two chimes - one low pitch constructed of four aluminium tubes and wooden clapper (gift) and the high pitch one of small stainless steel discs (purchased in maui from craft shop). I did some basic cleanup of low level background noise and applied plus one level of loudness using adobe soundbooth cs3 to get some clarity.

Another recording of rain and thunder, but in some ways a better one. This one is a surprisingly big crack and rumble preceded and followed by a nice sounding rain. I made this by positioning a stereo-matched pair of akg c451b condenser mics in an exaggerated x-y configuration (a wider stereo field) and aiming them out of my open window. The mics went into a universal audio 2-610 preamp, an apogee duet 2, and then ableton at 48khz and 24 bits. I believe i had the mics set flat, and there was no post processing (though i was mightily tempted to upload the much-better-sounding eqed and compressed files) so that you can fine tune it to suit your needs. You'll notice that the loudest parts of the thunder boom clipped the input, but, due to the pleasant and forgiving nature of vacuum tubes, the clipping sounds more compressed than distorted. Feel free to use this sound in any commercial or artistic work! you do not need to credit me.

sigil reel 2: percussion. Created by nathan moody, formatted for use in the make noise soundhack morphagene. This is one of two morphagene reels made from one-of-a-kind handmade electro-acoustic instruments and found objects created by sound designer and musician nathan moody, an outgrowth of his 2018 album, "the right side of mystery. ". This reel is focused on percussive, inharmonic content from found objects and one-of-a-kind handmade instruments including metal table tops, perforated steel gongs, stretched springs, steel tubes, a drum made from packing tape, shakers made of tin cat food lids, and much more. They were struck with rubber mallets, carbon fiber rods, drumsticks, and woolen tympani mallets. They were recorded with a variety of microphones (sennheiser mkh50, dpa 4061, audio-technica at4050, shure sm57 and beta 52a), through awtac channel amplifier and neve 511 preamps. The hits are gritty, raw, and harmonically complex often with long decays, holding up well to varispeed manipulation, decay-tail looping, and filtering.
