A recording of myself doing some "creative tuning" willy-nilly around the available spectrum of "websdr at raf hack green", 3/11/13; trying to keep things interesting, yet not lingering too long anywhere in particular, and avoiding rather than seeking intelligibility of the various broadcasters. Some bits reminded me of ben burtt's "droid/alien chatter" material.

I have literally no clue what anyone would use this for, but man does it sound weird. I forgot to check which frequency i was recording at, but i was using websdr. Url here: http://websdr. Ewi. To make this sound i used the twente online radio tuner (http://websdr. Ewi. Utwente. Nl:8901/). I recorded as i changed the listening frequency and filter (bandwidth). The sound is only amplified.

Playing around with the excellent tuner at http://websdr. Ewi. Utwente. Nl:8901/. The website even has a recording button! this version is the same as "shortwave-sweep-and-beeps. Wav" except here i have limited it with a threshold of 10db, which decreases dynamic range but also makes it louder overall.

Left channel is the pensylvania receiver, right channel is the uk receiver. Heard are various stations working or trying to work w1uuu in massachusetts including stations in the dominican republic, argentina, the ukraine, trinidad and tobago, colombia and florida. Some stations are heard better in pa, some better in the uk. Lots of static crashes heard from late spring lightning storms hundreds or thousands of kilometers away from both receivers.
