I had read that some bluegrass musicians tune their guitar strings to dadf#ad because it makes playing that style of music easier. Using a variety of 1980s radios connected via a headphone output to the computer, i tuned in - across the entire bandwidth - of the mw and lw channels. I also captured the static hiss of those bands, 'dead air'. There are small clips of various stations along the way but i was looking for that 'tuning in' sound that was so familiar when radio was the central part of every teenager's life.

Wine glass, tuned with water, rubbed with pressure in a circular motion to produce sustained distorted tone. Recorded with olympus ls-10 (no zoom) in a small reverberating bathroom, edited in audacity to make a seamless loop. The whole pack intended to be used as a virtual instrument. Note c#4 (root note c5, 440hz).

Trumpet played was a yamaha allegro with a yamaha 14b4 mouthpiece. Recorded using the internal microphones of a tascam dr-40x at a distance of approximately 3 feet.
