A recording of dry leaves skittering across an asphalt parking lot around 2:00pm on a friday afternoon. I feel this recording captures the serene, but sad, sound of dry leaves in the fall being scattered about by a strong north wind. Recording made with the marantz pmd661-oade, and the incredible beyerdynamic me58 microphone. Since this particular microphone is a dynamic microphone, i had to crank my record gain up to 7. I was really happily surprised that the sometimes un-listenable wind-roar and wind rumble is barely noticeable on this recording. . . . . . Emjoy this autumn soundscape.

A recording of some strong winds blustering through a beautiful, yellow-leaved hickory tree in the midwest usa. I was lucky to be able to capture this beautiful, sentimental sound of the wind through clattering leaves, without the accompanying wind roar.

One of autumn's most signature sounds is that of dry leaves skittering and tumbling as they ride along on a hard surface. In this case, the hard surface is asphalt. Hardly any other sound, just the strong autumn wind, and bunches of dried out sweet gum, maple and oak leaves racing across an asphalt parking lot. Think of it, also, as the sound from our youth, our careful youth when everything was achievable. At least for me, this brings me back to my happy place. Recorded on saturday october 17 2020 in an asphalt parking lot buffeted by gusts between 20 and 30 mph. Sound devices 702. Sennheiser mkh416 left channel, beyerdynamic m58 right channel.

The tv weather guy said watch out, saturday october 17 2020 is going to be very breezy, with sustained winds out of the southwest at 20 mph, with many gusts at 30mph. A perfect day in a midwest small-town neighborhood for painting a picture of peace, and thoughtful reminiscing in mid october. From time to time you will hear the distant sound of creaking swings and laughter from a kids playground. Autumn is a time for slowing down and allowing yourself time for reflection and contemplation. The accomplishments and mistakes from the previous year. Especially if you make it a habit of getting out all year long and exploring nature, autumn can be a much-needed change in sensory soundscape. . . . After a busy spring listening to the many different warblers which come to visit and a busy summer immersed in the busy sounds of life----both human and natural----autumn's subtle, quiet muted soundscape can be almost like a re-birth for the ears and the soul. The insects, which had taken over center stage since august, are still singing---though now with a quieter volume and a more even sleep and though-inducing tempo. . . . . . . . Brisk winds from the north can be heard more clearly now----swishing, rustling the weedy, tan edges of fields. . . . . Hinting at the bite of much colder masses of canadian air waiting on deck for their turn in the months of november, december and january. . . I made this recording on the evening of october 4th 2014 at the edge of a field which was bordered by thick stands of oaks and pines of a major national forest. . . . . I couldn't help but pretend i was linus waiting in the pumpkin patch for the great pumpkin to arrive!. Recording made with my marantz pmd661 and a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone on a tripod about 3 feet above the ground. My input volume was 6. I hope you enjoy this soundscape as much as i do.

A peaceful fall soundscape of the swelling of the wind as it blows through the leaves of the cottonwood tree, plus, the melancholy sound of some blue jays calling out -- to me blue jays are the iconic sound of fall. Recorded using my handy zoom h4-n portable digital audio recorder and my rode nt-g 2 shotgun microphone. Enjoy.

A recording of the creek mühlgraben in the bavarian forest on a trail from the village rettenbach to the peak schopf. Occasional birdsong can be heard, as well as the rustling or falling of leaves in the wind. The recording was taken at an idyllic spot where the small creek flows over pebbles and around rocks. Recording during a strong autumn storm, with heavy rain, in a large garden, surrounded by big pine trees. The wind was so strong, that i had a fear that one of the branches of the pines could snap and fall on me. The recording is a 32bit float, 48khz ms-stereo one, made with a sennheiser mkh 416, and ambient ate 308 emesser figure of eight, in a røde blimp with fur cover. I was amazed that the blimp did its job this good in this strong wind.
